Form follows function.
Im sure that the front side of the triangle creates some downforce by itself, but the design is definitely to work with the wing.
The Rexpeed one is probably exactly the same

It's Rexpeed.

Here is a niffty little link you can use to learn more about aero. VG's are covered as well. Just basic info with crappy drawings. I think I actually found this link here on evom

no one will ever know unless the two are wind tunnel tested

which most likely won't be happening on rexpeed's behalf

An Evo with a VG and a wing has more rear downforce than an Evo with a VG and no wing and even MORE than an Evo with no VG and no wing.

Does anyone disagree with that?
I completely agree. I think its hilarious that you won't just admit that a VG without a wing is still functional. A VG only affects downforce with the use of a wing yes, but a VG has aerodynamic properties that have nothing to do with downforce.

A wingless Evo with a VG has less overall drag then an Evo without a VG.

Does anyone disagree with that?

All you gotta do is read the white paper about VGs and Aerodynamic Drag Reduction. - http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf

here's a wikipedia for those that don't know what drag is.

The Rexspeed is NOT the same. I have measured both. They are functional without the wing thats a FACT.

We know what drag is and we know what a VG does.

Evo's with VG's and wings > Evo's with VG's and no wing > Evo's with no VG and no wing.

Vortex Generators - they are functional without a wing, but not as functional with one.

Period sir. Good Day.

very informative post, but i still think for your average driver or even the novice track driver its still just for looks

the data isn't enough to make me wanna go out and buy one for anything other than looks.

How do think the rexpeed deck wing would do if it were tested? *pic from their site:

i ask because i just put one on it does stick up pretty decent at a good angle to catch air...by the looks of it

That wing base (or trunk wing) was actually designed by Varis

Rexpeed and many other companies just copied it.

Same goes for the Vortex Generator .. this item was actually an Ralliart product but a lot of companies basically just take it and make a mold for it and start selling it for less. The original Ralliart VG was going for over $200.

Do a search on Vortex Generator back in 2002-2003.. you will see some results in your search.

Wow! I did not know this was the purpose of the vortex. I just like it because it looks cool.
