Do you regret not getting a certain trim?

Sorry if this is a repost, sounds like rickybobby, or is just a plain stupid thread.

I just bought my evo9 two weeks ago and after one year of research i'm only thinking now that maybe I should have bought the mr. From the beginning I always wanted a WW gsr w/ SSL due to its stronger 5-speed. But now that I finally have the car and actually realize I have no money at the current time to buy aftermarket wheels or evo9 SE wheels, coilovers, and power mods I wonder if I should done things differently.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car... But im the kind of person that always likes to have the best of the best (not to show off, but because I like having good things) and all of the MR fanboys say the MR was the best evo made. Maybe they are right... idk...

I just want to see if anyone else feels this way?

the mr certainly isn't "the best"

Stop being Emo over the choice you made. You made a great choice.

Hey if you dont want your car and would rather have the MR since you are another owner of your car you can take 5-7k off the price you paid and I'll take it.

Just bustin your haunches, drive an MR, then you'll relaize "Hey this is the same damn thing as my car only I have to shift more often" The only big difference I think you'd notice is the Bilstein susp.

Yeah the suspension part of the MR package is something that I feel really is an upgrade. My plan was to first switch out the suspension/wheels for KW 3 coilovers and advan rs's.... but unfortunately I can't seem to find $2100 for coilovers, $2000 for wheels, $500 for robispec alignment, and more money for tires. I seemed to have overlooked that part of the plan...

I've seen the Bilstein suspension setup for sale in the for sale forums going for a very desent price. I've even thought of upgrading to that setup when the time is right. Besides that you made a great choice because the GSR is a great trim.

not trim, but sometimes i regret not waiting for a IX. i bought my '05 after months of searching high and low for a bone stock, low mileage black evo.

if i could have found the same criteria IX i would have got one instead. i miss mivec but i've come to like the VIII front end.

If I could do it all over again, I would like my same setup on an RS. Aside from the head lights, everything in the SSL package is probably going to be swapped out.

Sounds like you have a case of buyers remorse... Your very lucky to have a WW evo 9 with the ssl package. Enjoy it. You can always upgrade it over time as money comes in.

hahaha, when i first read this, I thought you were meaning "trim"

You can make any trim Evo into another trim. Dont worry about it. Enjoy what you have.

Sorry guys I was not very clear. I actually ended up going with a regular GSR. After searching for a low-mile, stock WW IX w/ SSL for months and only finding one with 17k miles and the stock clutch going I decided to go with a regular WW GSR w/ 10,400 miles.

I actually think my questioning of my decision comes from not getting the SSL (for the sunroof and hids...). But after hearing about leaks with the sunroof, added weight, and decreased rigidity I went with the gsr. I'm ****ed up because im like this with everything... I'm making no sense now that I think about it.

Thats fine, in any other car, i would have wanted a sunroof but in the evo, no sunroof is fine. You still got a low mileage WW car so be happy. You can find a nice set of used Bilsteins for good prices and always upgrade wheels. Swapping in HID's shouldn't cost that much either.

But i'm a douche and want to use oem ballasts and it seems oem SE wheels go for 1k+.

I might actually look into getting some used bilsteins and couple them with some swift springs.

Key is being patient, if you wait and search long enough, the right deal will come along.

Ah, but ya'll are forgetting the bricks of coke they used for sound deadening in the trunk of the IX MR! Or was that just me?

Seriously, enjoy what you have and build what you want. With a wife that only works part time and 3 kids that eat all my money I can't drop tons of cash on the car. The deal I've made myself is that I spend a chunk of money on the car each year to keep it fresh and have something to look forward to. So far it has worked out well for me.

I'm worried about making the same mistake, however in the end you saved some money and you can buy better aftermarket parts than that with the stock mr.
