STi in Pro WRC
The STi that he's driving has had engine lowered and moved back (thus compensating for the reported front-end heaviness of the STi with cornering "less intuitive and requiring a change in driving technique to keep the front end from plowing ahead in curves) Not to mention the million other mods (~400 hp) and lightened weight. That quarter-million dollar beast isn't quite in my price range but the top-end pro circuit is probably (as you have said) more dependent on driver than machine since they are neck and neck in that arena. I really have no intention of considering a Ford Focus...I don't care if they win a formula one championship.
THAT is a serious STi. THAT is what I want to end up with. Unfortunately, that one is a bit outta my current price range...but it would do nicely. Subaru should build it with the 2.2 in mass-prod for the US and they'd have a HUGE following.

On paper, the current WRX has lower bhp compared to the Evo 7 but it has a sixth gear.
We should be comparing STI vs Ralliart, not the stock Evo.
Wagon ?!?!

Oh my God. Your poor, poor, sorry-assed friend. An STi wagon is an oxymoron. Why didn't he just get an outback and lower it down and put some chrome girlies on it? Curb feelers? I just don't understand I guess.
Typical... cutting down the wagon. I'd be happy with an STi wagon. It's going to be the funnest wagon on the market. (if it comes here) I've only heard about the sedan so far. And what would you need a race spec $250,000 car for? The prodrive version of the STi is only a couple grand more. I'm pretty sure it's just a new bumper and spoiler. It's the one I'd love to get. Still up in the air about which I'll buy. I'm sure price and power will have a big determination on it though.

Ya PJAL, that 22b is sweet! I'd take it over any Evo!

I was looking for a GSR with sunroof option too but apparently these were all sold out...
Those who jujdge what car is faster through the rally standings are jokers.... these are million dollar machines and cannot be compared to standard evos and sti's..
if the hyundai accent was winning in the world rally would you say "oh accents are faster then evos"....
i doubt it..
