Electric to Manual Window Conversion
I was wondering if it would be possible to convert an evo with electric windows to manual windows. I know you would need the manual (RS) door pannel and window crank. Are the manual and electric door shells basically the same? Thanks for any insight into this.
I would guess that they didn't tool up to make two separate doors for electric and crank so I would think so. ....but you'd have to be a pretty serious racer to do this. For one thing it will kill the resale value of the car.

The regulator will also have to be changed. The regulator of the manual window system has the crank as part of it, attached to the cables. The power window regulator has the motor attached to where the crank would go, totally different design. Mounting points to the inner door should be the same for both regulators. Manual windows build bigger arms.
Anyone have power windows and wanna trade for manual ones?? Im talking about trading all door panels, regualors, relays(power window side).. Trading everything needed to do the conversion for both cars!

If your just doing this for weight savings there isnt much of a difference as the manual crank mechanism doesnt weigh much less at all then the power window motor. Alot of weight to be lost else where. But good luck in your search
Electrics to manual fronts only
Hi guys new to this so bare with me.
I am wanting to do the conversion on my gsr but only looking at doing front doors. By disconnecting my drivers door means my rear electrics won't work? Was thinking of running loom inside door and leaving master switch connected inside the door somehow so remaining electrics will keep working. Doing this because I have replaced my front regulators too many times and manual windows would be more reliable.
Cheers

I converted my power window regulators to RS manuals all around. Yes you need the master drivers side box to keep them working. But what's the point of leaving the rear powered if the drivers window controller is inaccessible? You'd still need to get into the rear to manipulate the windows. I'd suggest just going manual regulator all around if they're still available at the dealership.
Whether this is "worth it" or not I'll leave to you. But there is some marginal weight savings in the regulators and harnesses etc.
