Evo will be sitting for 2 years....

as stated in title my evo will be sitting for 2 years come january. i have decided to do something with my life and goto college. i cant wait....

my question is what should i do to my car to get it ready for the 2 years of sitting? it will be kept in my garage so no worries about weather/ security. i was thinking along the lines of oil change, put the car on jackstands, wash and wax it, and throw a car cover over it. is there anything else i should consider doing?

its gonna be a long 2years, but def worth getting out of college coming home to a practically new car and making lots more of money then i do now. im pumped

Drain the gas tank. Will it be garaged? You can change the oil. But I'd probably change it again or shortly after you start to drive it again. It would also be good, if at all possible to have somebody in your family drive it evey so often, maybe once a month or so?

Will the car be started and idled at all during the 2 years? Get some fuel stabilizer (automotive gasoline doesn't age well) and drain the oil. If possible, try running it up every once in while and changing the oil every few months. This is to burn off any condensation and keep everything lubed up.

why is it sitting you going to school abrade?

If i was going to be leaving the car for two years i would drain the gas and also let the car burn the gas in the lines(gas tends to turn to sludge after a long period of time).Might be a good idea to put the car up on jack stands and let the suspension hang. I cant think of anything else besides taking the battery out and changing the oil which you would have to change after the two years also. leave the diff and tranny fluid alone but it might be a good idea to change them after the storage is over.

But to be perfectly honest letting a car sit is the worst thing you can do for it, the weather stripping and all the rubber components dry out super fast. if you could have someone start the car up and get up to running temp every week or two that would be your best bet, obviously if you did this disregard my previous statements about the fuel and battery. just my 2 cents hope i helped

Your good to go. Just get that fuel additive to prevent any varnish build up in the tank and lines and she'll sleep fine.

i dont wanna take the car cause i dont want to have it in the weather all the time, getting beat up, and paying for maintence and what-not. since i have had this car, it has never spent one night outside my garage. i dont wanna take chances and if i dont need to drive it, i dont want to. so its being taken off the road and sitting

If you'll be home 2-4 times a month, I don't see any need in storing it.
