The price seems to be going higher
nod nod GP, i totally agree with every word you said, i really dun like how some rumor threads end up with everyone getting pissed at mitsu, since most of the rumors either came from fan speculation or greedy dealers. i just want to say again that the whole deal bout the 38k Evo price tag rumor came from dealer mark ups, mitsu NEVER said anything bout the absolute price tag of the Evo, so its really not
's fault, in a way i think they're doin a good thing not releasing as much info before the US spec Evo is ready for sale coz then if they had to change anything to make it more complient with US regulations they dun have to answer to thousands of questions on every single change they make everyday...

I don't supposed there will be any official press release till late Fall 02.
Mitsu and Subaru are waiting on each other to first spill the beans so one can run some last minute tweaks to outshine the other. Till then, it's all talks and rumors.
Concerning the price tag, a significant dealer markup is inevitable. Take for example, the Honda s2k. Initially, buyers paid >5k over MSRP. Today, you can get one for less then MSRP.
No doubt the Evo is a great ride but paying 25% on top of MSRP is ridiculous! When it's due, you can afford it and wish to be the first to drive it off the lot, congratulations! Actually no, the re-designed, more potent STi is coming!!!
