It would be a BIG mistake to increase the price over 30k base. Especially if it's 38k. I will also buy something else. I'm simply not going to pay that much for a Mitsubishi and alot of other people won't either. If it is much higher than the announced under 30k I will be looking at: M3, S4, and the new 390+hp '03 Cobra or '03 Mach 1

Yeap...

I can't wait to see Austin Mitsu dealers trying to get 8K over MSRP..... I am going to go down there and laugh and laugh. I mean it is a Mitsubishi for crying out loud. Not a Z06 or 911... I mean really. I got my S2k for 200 under msrp. Had to go to Beaumont, so wtf? Austin car dealerships are so full of themselves sometimes. I mean I love the EVO and everything, but I do believe I could learn to love a M3 or Z06 just as much. Once again....say it with me.. Mit...su...freakn'....bishi... Not known for kick *** cars recently. When I bout my 99GSX I started talking about the EVO 6 and they where like.... "What's that? That car doesn't exist." And now they are like "best car ever" please..... Get in friggn' line. I am so happy to see there are alot of cool new cars out there. I kind of hope the Focus RS makes it to the US just for some stop light and auto-x fun. The more cool quick cars avail, the less SUVs hoggn' all of the gas.

I'm sure that regulates the dealers somewhat, at least I hope they do.

oh car manufactorers always try to control the dealerships... thats why most dealership honor the "at MSRP" deposit and line, but like i said in other threads, look at the M3, mini cooper, and all the popular cars that came out lately, theres the "at MSRP" line, but to get a car ur waiting for months, but you COULD buy ones off the lot for a hefty "dealer service charge" which i remember was around 8 to 10k for the M3, which basically meant you could cut in line if you pay the dough...

anyways, in no way am i saying the Evo is not worth the dough, i would take it over an M3 and the other cars named in the thread anyday, all i'm pissed about are dealers trying to screw with people who wants their dream cars...

What do you mean the price is going up and up? Do you have some factual basis for this statement? ie..Has Mitsubishi officially told us that MSRP will be substantially above $30k? Or are you basing the above statement on the unsubstantiated rumors that you hear in this forum? Why not hold your conclusions until you hear the real truth from Mitsu? No flame here, just giving you some friendly advice.

Oh and any dealer charging $8k over MSRP for a $30k car is nuts, and anyone paying it is equally as nuts.

This is what I was talking about yesterday! its just like the PS2, some dumb people where paying $900.00, for the system on E bay. If there is a large enough demand then there are people out there that will pay anything for it. Take the WRX the msrp is $23,000 right but I went downt to the dealer just to have a look and there was not a single one on the lot under $26,500, all where bone stock I think one had the turbo mount on the stearing wheel but that one was a steal for $27,000. Man I hope thats not what happens here with the EVO!

Well I went to get my first oil change today and saw the salesman who sold me my car and he said they should be getting the Evo's in around October. They are going to run about $38,000. They aren't taking deposits yet but they said everyone wants one. He also said that insurance is going to be outrageous. Doesn't look too good for those who want one..

I really need to stop reading this rumor forum.

A cool $100 says your dealer has no clue what he is talking about, and probably got his information right here from this very rumor forum!

How does he know what insurance companies will charge? Why does he think the price will be $38k when Mitsu themselves say under $30k? Why won't he take deposits? I bet I can answer the last question...it's because he is talking out his ***.

Anyhow, I know you are just relaying information for the benefit of everyone, and we all appreciate it. But making statements like this: "They are going to run about $38,000. " is clearly false and misleading.

In my view, it is looking REAL good for us future Evo owners. Even if it is a supposedly "tuned down" version, I can easily recover all the lost hp in a few simple mods.

Mordeth, you got good pts, and ur speaking from a POV of not wanting everyone to make a big deal outta rumors and start bashing the Evo or Mitsu just coz they heard someone from the street say something.... but cool down man... we all love Evo and we just care bout it so much that sometimes we get overly nervous and paranoid bout every bit of info we take in... you gotta understand that... and thats what the RUMORS section wuz started for... if we all got hard facts we might as well post it somewhere else... sometimes its fun to make speculations and freak out a bit over it...

Point taken zeroize. I appreciate the insight(sincerely).

I really am not overly upset about all the false rumors, I just get frustrated when I see line after line of misleading comments, so I try to clear them up as much as possible. Why? I guess it's in my nature.

I know this is a rumors forum, and everyone most certainly has a right to post the rumors they hear without fear of being flamed for it. I recognize that and I respect it. All I am trying to do is approach the issue a tad more logically, while using some common sense.

Hoping the Evo is under $30k, with 280+ hp!

Regards,

Mordeth
