Has anyone opened their headlamps, separating the clear front cover from the rest?

Mine were damaged in an accident and I want to repair them as opposed to the $1100 each for reconditioned ones since they are the Xenon ones on my IX.

How should I go about opening them? Just pop off the tabs? Are they sealed around the edge or anything?

Any advice on opening and resealing them would be appreciated.

 

There is a how-to on this. I believe it involves "baking" your headlamps in the oven at a set temp and time. Be sure to do it right though, because I have seen people doing it themselves and failed to seal it properly causing the lamps to fog up on certain days.

 

Its fairly simple, just follow the how-to and have some patients
