Evo VIII Production numbers

This post has been referenced a few time for Evo8 production number. These numbers are wrong. Especially since 2004 Evo's were a short 6 month production run. I have seen these numbers referenced a few times now

2003 - 4,513
2004 - 4,161
2005 - 4,500 (approx)

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...9&postcount=20

1- Number the source is only through November YTD not the full year.
2- 04 were released until April of 04, 05's were released in mid October of 04.
3- These numbers are the number car sold, not the number imported, end of year left overs are going to count as different production years.

Using December sales totals.

http://media.mitsubishicars.com/deta...41275&mime=ASC

2003 4949
2004 4497

2003 Evo Sales from Jan 1, 2004- April 1,2004 since the 04 Evo wasn't released yet.

http://media.mitsubishicars.com/deta...52066&mime=ASC

1211

This put the minimum 03 US Evo Sales.

4949+1211 = 6160 not including leftover sales.

2004 Total Sales through until October 1, 2004 which includes 03 Evo's Leftovers, but doesn't include 04 Leftovers

http://media.mitsubishicars.com/deta...32919&mime=ASC

04 Evo production

3323 - 1211 = 2112

I can't do anything with Mitsubishi press releases for 2005 becuase Mitsubishi stop breaking down sales totals.

So more accurate US production number that doesn't include leftovers is

2003 6160
2004 2112

Again those numbers aren't 100% correct because of leftovers. This only based off of Mitsubishi press releases.

These came from a book I have on the history of the Evo. This is from a post I made back in
'07 on the topic.

2004 imports to the states--from Oct 2003- Sept 2004 ( '04 Production run) 4678 VIII were imported to the States. Nothing on colors .
2005 US import numbers--4191 for the Evo VIII.

I bet the production numbers for the 05-06 RS models (only ones with ACD) are really low.

That seems to be pretty high for a 2004 since I do not see too many of them even for sale.

Thanks for the info.

Take away all the Evo's that have been destroyed, and it explains why the amount of Evo's I see on the road has diminished over the past couple years, especially since it wasn't common to see Evo's in the first place.
