Got some of the suspension bits I need to go back to stock height and setup. All new Bilsteins, oe springs, mounts, everything. Sucks that craps expensive, but will be nice to have a smooth ride in the DD.
Out of curiosity, how much did the suspension items come up to ?
I'll be in for about $1000, but I got a few deals.
The Bilsteins I got two from Rock auto and two from old stock, so about $500 total on those. Rock Auto all four is $720.
The oe parts total about $825 I think it was, but I get everything at cost so about $500.
If I had to pay retail I would have reused the old stuff where possible, but I figured for under $1k it would be worth it just be new throughout
lol. Threw the Bilsteins in today. It's like a monster truck stance compared to before.
Took the front struts apart expecting to see them seized... Nope, one was in okay shape, the other a little loose but not problematic. The springs though... Not only are they way too low for a daily driver anyway (my buddy has lowering springs in his that sits a cool two inches higher than mine did), one of them was even broken in two, just sandwiched in just right so you couldn't tell when assembled. So that didn't help either.
Rear struts the nuts were seized up on the shafts worse than I felt like fooling with so I just pitched then out assembled.
Rides like a brand new car now though.
Ripped the dash out and reinstalled the heater core, blower motors and housing, passenger airbag, and air bag control module back in the car. Also put together my diy non cdi ignition system.

Not the MR ones.... too much bread, got all four for less than the cost of one MR bilstein. They are the B6 Bilsteins, they aren't labeled HD or on packaging. however I have seen them separated on auto parts sites as heavy duty, but I always attributed that to product separation for the store as they will usually say heavy duty then have bilsteins and other brands etc. The struts and packaging only say B6 and the model number.
Scrubbed my trunk out, durabak held up pretty good for the last four years or so. Could use some touch up maybe but it still looks good.
Since I have the rear seats at the upholsterer I took the opportunity to install the alcantara package tray. Unfortunately I did not remember until literally the last screw that I had a non-RS sound deadener I was going to install while it was out. Oh well, maybe I'll take it out again to install it before the seats are done.
Finally sat down and put the entire COP setup together. Had to piece together some hardware for Lowes and Home Depot to get the coils mounted to the plate but it was only a few bucks extra. The binding posts provided from Spoolinup for some reason did not fit the coils I ordered them for. Oh wee, I'm not complaining. I ordered the wrong sleeving from Spoolinup too and had to settle with the flex tubing. Back story is that I literally pieced together the set up individually down to the mounting plate that had to be drilled, then rattle can painted. I followed the DIY post with the bunny in it to the T! Crossed my fingers when I turned the key, but the Evo started right up!
