Has this happen to anyone?

I recently was helping a friend get his clutch replaced by referring him to a shop that did mine. Upon taking the clutch out they found 3 bolts were not even tightened down going from the flywheel to the crank. The shop claims cold weather caused the stretch and shrink of the bolts to 'work' themselves out. You be the judge and let me know what you think about this.. I happen to do a search too for flywheel bolts backing out on EVO's and have not found anything.

I think it's just a big pile of crap these guys can't admit they messed up and fix the guys car.. I mean if you spend in excess of 10k on a build you'd figure they would cover all ends and make sure something like this would not happen and end up costing more money to fix something that should of been taken care of the first time. I've never heard of anything like this from Buschur, AMS, CBRD or any other shops or any other evo at that.

I know DSMs had a problem with the bolts backing out, there's a good amount of damage done. My guess is that those bolts were never properly torqued down, not to mention there wasn't any locktite, the shop needs to do some investigating and help out in whatever way they can, since they were the last ones to work on the clutch, just my 2 cents.

Upon reading the entire thread, i realised it was a mixture of both........the shop didnt properly tighten the bolts down and the customer was an absolute retard.....with more money than intelligence.......a common trait in today's world

It's not if you go back to the thread you can see the owner of the shop posting on it. He wanted to file down the crank weld the bolts then go along his way. I've seriously though never heard of any evo's having the flywheel bolts come off regardless of horsepower.

im sorry, but as soon as those bolts went, you would hear it, and if something doesn't sound right with your evo, are you gonna keep driving it, or pull over, try to figure it out and maybe try to have your vehicle towed.........i dont even have a car and i got Triple A card (it was the wife's idea, go figure)
