Is an aftermarket 02 housing really worth the pita install? I know this is a relative question, more specifically does the addition make significant gains to the power curve on a ix with only tbe and stock turbo? I have searched and found nothing definitive.

Yes. Couple it with a bit of home porting on the turbine housing inlet and get the manifold ported/coated professionally, and you are looking at a solid 15whp gain on pump gas. Make sure you have a walbro 255hp too, because you'll be at the limit of the stock pump already.

Also, it's not too much of a PITA. Drop downpipe, yank manifold, unhook turbine housing from center section and it all comes out. The only snag is all the damn heat shields! Still, R&R is about a 3 hour job with 2 people.

its hit or miss with them, my friends creeped really bad when he got it, n we had to take it out and port it, my other friend didnt have a problem
