Living on an "Evo Budget" :(
my bills are over 600 a month my parents let me live here no rent. Still 600, plus i definitly spend at least that on whatever else, and i go to school. And yes, i bought the evo myself, so i can say that i do. When i was 16 i saved 5,000 and would go to auctions and buy cars, mopeds, anything and research prices earlier on the internet, i almost doubled my first auction 5,000- 9,000 no help and went from there. There are so many ways to make money, but people here do not save 500 to save 500, they save 500 to buy that turbo and be broke. Think long term, suffer when you want something. I bought a 2003 evo for 24,000 taxes included in 2003 with 3,000 miles on it.
A) I got a ridiculous deal because im smart and not impulsive
B) I bought it cash because it makes sence(buy a hoopty cash if thats all you got)
C) I sold it last month for 17,000 cash
2003-2008= 5 year term 24,000 total paid total sold 17,000
24,000
-17,000
7,000---- 5 years
thats 1,400 a year depreciation.
What does it cost you to own your evo?
Make smart moves all the way around, this evo was a joke, 1,400 a year.

5000 is alot of money to have when your 16. I really don't know anyone that was as fortunate as you to have amassed that amount of money at such an early age. 600 dollars a month doesn't even cover utilities for most people. If we were all fortunate to live at home rent free I'm betting alot of people would be able to buy a nice car in cash and be able to live over the bare necessities.
Even if you did pay off the car with cash at 19, personally it is a terrible way to spend your money. if you had lets say 20k at 19, i'd invest that money and drive a POS. You'd thank yourself when you got older

I can barely afford to pay for my car right now while in college, but I just can't afford to mod it. I put away a few hundred a month, but hopefully nothing breaks..then I'll be ruined.
Ever since I got my car I've been broke. Lol. I'm sure that most of the Evo owners out there feel the same way. I wanted to start a thread that will create a little bit of humor to keep our sanity.
Tell me Your "Evo Budget Stories" and I will share with you mine
Today I washed my clothes with dish washing liquid because I ran out of money to buy groceries and regular home supplies.
