Angry Fender help! Huge Gap!

I recently had a set of winter tires installed, and to my suprise today after I washed my car, I found some interesting things.

The front fender is popped out about a half inch or so at the bottom where it aligns with the lower sideskirt. I'm assuming when the tire place jacked my car up, they didn't do it properly and lifted it on the sideskirt itself and somehow the fender popped out!

My question, what is attaching the bottom part of the fender?

I also notice this lovely mess! Again, I'm not sure the tire place did this, or someone hit me at work in the parking lot!!!

Any tips on how to put the fender back in place would be appreciated!

Also, It's been a about 5 days since I got my tires installed there, and I'm not sure if I'll have any recourse or proof. What do you guys think?

check under the car to see if there is damage from where they lifted it. years ago, when i was a green mechanic, i lifted a new car where i wasn't supposed to and the fender bulged out. lol. memories. call and speak with the manager, you may be s.o.l. with them however. live with it or insurance.

They probably took your car for a joy ride and hit something.

there are two 10mm bolts that bolt the bottom of the fender to the car, not the side skirt. The side skirt isn't attached to the fender. but they could have put the jack on these two bolts and bent them, which pushed out your fender.

Thanks for the answer! I appreciate it!

So I should be able to see these two bolts from under the car then?

2 10 mm at the bottom and 1 in the middle and one under that little triangular part infront of the mirror.. I would prob loosen atleast the midde one and maybe even the top one to.. Very easy job.. I forget if you need to take the side skirt off, if so its just Phillips screws and some clips..As for in the back, wetsand it with some 2000 grit sand paper and then buff it out..If you try to do it yourself don't go crazy wetsanding or you'll end up burning your paint....

If you poke your head under the car you will see these two bolts. The fender is sandwiched between the side skirt and the chassis. They most likely jacked up the car from this point.

On this picture you can see where some damage is done just under the right bolt.

This is the #1 reason I don't trust other mechanics with my car. They simply just don't know how to jack up cars properly. I've worked on alot of cars, and I've seen many instances of severe body damage caused by shops and their incompetent lift operators. So sad.

So wait, how about the rail on the sides of the car? Arent they made to be used as jack points or not?

im guessing they didn't lift it properly and pop out the fender, and when they went to back out the car..probabaly scrape the side on the bay door

Damn dude I feel you for you - I would be more pissed than you. You seem rather calm so congrats on your ability to remain civil hehe. I can add no value, but please let us know the outcome!
