well its not the price of the kit that kills you its everthing you have to get after you get kit.Like built motor, fuel pumps, injectors, twin disk, built tranny etc...<-----these parts alone are another 10k and im being conservative with pricing.

Buy it piece by piece. Instead of dropping 4-5k dollars all at once, just buy a piece here and there whenever you have the cash to spare.

Look into the RED. I wouldn't be in a rush to purchase everything listed above, I would just be prepared to have a little cash on hand in case. I live by Daniel Buschur's philosophy: Fix it when you break it.

+1.

Like what Gordian79 implied, it's way more than just buying a turbo kit and slapping it on.

Don't forget the cost to dyno tune the car and the price of race gas to take advantage of the bigger turbo.

Luckily you probably have e85, in which case you'd need some big injectors and a fuel pump bigger than a Walbro 255.

You've got to pay to play.

Just save up; I can only imagine that the wait would be worth it .

Just troll the forums and find a deal on a good used setup. as for "all the other stuff" you need to buy, the built tranny can be eliminated by a good driver mod! LOL clutch yes, injectors yes, fuel pump yes, good tune absolutely, just don't forget the other stuff needed to go along with the extra power. Better brakes, good set of tires, bail money, increased maint intervals, etc etc

Save. Buy cash. Buy the right parts the first time, spend money once.

Only use credit cards on small/lesser expensive parts and make sure you can pay it off if need to.

Big turbo's are overrated, enjoy the stock car.

I would highly recommend buying new turbo at least.manifold, wastegate etc... you can buy used.reason i recommend a new turbo is because of my experience.I had bought a brand new 35r for my galant vr4 from pte.my first time headed to englishtown to race car i blew my turbo while crusing.sent it to pte and they rapaired it under warranty.then one winter morning i go out and start my car so it could warm up.when i go outside big cloud of blue smoke.turbo blew because oil was too thick and it didnt reach turbo.fixed under warranty.third time i was on best past ever 1.69 60ft 6.64 1/8 @ 113 mph and turbo blew up again sent and fixed under warrenty yet again after that turbo didnt give me any problems.my buddy on the other bought a used 35r blew it up and had to pay like $900 to fix it.

Credit Card is No Go. I had credit card, spent $2500 and was paying $50/payment but about $20 was going into interest. So I paid off with my first paycheck.

What are you going to do with big turbo?
I thought about it but I think stock 9 turbo is enough for street drive.
Have to agree with that......I just maxxed out my 401k contribution to take advantage of the depressed market......wifey maxxed hers too.

actually. save up big. take some time. learn how to drive your evo on a track or in the dirt. than when you have enough saved up you can buy the right parts for the right price.

what i did was got lucky, dont count on that.

Do you think it's a good time to increase your contributions considering most financial analysts are saying the market has not yet bottomed out and corrected itself?

My 401k has dropped like a brick; it doesn't help that I have a very risky portfolio with a lot in small caps and international interests.

Good luck .

If you are investing for the long term - yes. If investing for short-term - no.

Save up and wait for your tax return. Every year I did that for the big mods. Don't forget you need the supporting stuff. Clutch is the other big mod.
