It is primarily for mounting a harness. Any handling benefits would probably be negligible. Do NOT put people in the back seat if you have a harness bar. I would not put one in without a cage or at least a serious roll bar, because if you flip and the roof collapses then the bar will crush you against the roof. And with a cage, you should not drive without a helmet or you are asking for some serious head trauma if you get in an accident.

Basically, don't do it unless you are ready to turn your car into a track only car.

I used mine primarily for a camera mount. I did use it for harnesses too. Your best bet if you want harnesses is to look for a roll bar, Autopower makes a bolt in. This will give you more safety in a rollover, a camera mount, and a harness bar. Difference in price is less than a couple hundo, well worth it if you ask me.

If you want to stay planted without the hassle or risk of a harness and bar..... get a CG-LOCK. They are fairly cheap and work very well. Takes 5 minutes to install and remove.

+1 I have one and it works well, but I would remove it when you are not at the track so you do not wear out the belt retractor.

You can foam the cage/bar but I still would not drive it without a helmet. I have seen helmets destroyed from hitting a foamed bar, and helmets are stronger then skulls.

There is a ghetto mount you can make for a camera by removing the center child seat anchor one the cargo shelf behind the rear seats, and you replace it with a longer bolt through the center of the head of a cheapo tripod that you tore in half. There is a thread about how to do it here, I used it for a while and it worked ok but it is not great because the camera is too far back.

Or you can go GoPro and use a suction cup, but some track day organizers do not allow suction cups.
