black ice= front end damage
black ice= front end damage
Last night i was driving back to my house from a friends and some unfortunate events took place. It was pretty cold about mid 20's and it had flurried earlier in the day so the ground was slick. I went to take the fairly wide exit ramp and it turned to a concrete portion over the bridge. I hit a large patch of black ice with my passenger side tires and and slid into the divider with my driver side front. From what i can tell i am gonna need a new front bumper, front lip, driver side headlight and some body work on the driver side fender. I was wondering if you guys were in my position what would you do? My insurance says i have to take it to a shop and get an estimate the i will either go with OEM parts or if they let me get a check and get aftermarket parts and fix it myself. thanx feel free to comment
Its a tough choice. Mainly because I believe if you just take the check and fix it yourself, if there is anymore hidden damage you'll have to fix it out of your pocket. The choice is yours but I think id go with a body shop and see if they can get your a Evo 9 front end if you like it more.
Looks like the bumper can be fixed, but it's hard to say w/out looking at it in person, but if it can be fixed you still need a factory lip. let me know I have one for sale is GG, but you can always paint it when you fix the bumper. I live in NJ too.
where in NJ did this happended? what kind of tires do you run?

That sucks man... on the bright side the damage isn't that bad. You can just get the bumper repainted and a carbon lip and call it a day. By the way I would have them remove the center Diamond section of the bumper.
it happened right near trenton on route 1 getting off to go to the brunswick circle. I am taking it to the shop on monday to get the estimate first then im gonna make my decision. The bumper i don't think can be repaired it has 3 or 4 holes where it rubbed through when scrapping on the wall. I also just got new tires and an alinment a week ago they are bfg g force sport besides for this incident they seemed to preform very well. fugiwara i might take you up on that offer depending what the body shop says i kinda want a do luck front lip but they are kinda pricey.
