Need Help Guys!!

This just happened and i'm not sure what to do.

Driving home from ikea with a bunch of heavy boxes in the back seat (195 pounds all together), I was going down a semi steep hill faster than i should be driving. i drove pretty fast on the part of the hill where it levels out.

The noise came after that. It sounds like metal on metal screeching/scraping noise that seems to be coming from underneath the car between the front passenger side wheel and the middle of my car/drive train area. It gets louder the faster my evo is driving as well.

I feel like a noob and i know i've f*cked something up. I'm just hoping it's not going to drain my wallet to fix it.

Before i tow it tomorrow morning to the dealership, would you guys have any ideas as to what can be wrong with my car and what i can check out?

Thanks muchly!

Describe the sound better. The only thing i can think of that gets louder as the speed goes up is the wheel bearings. but thats more of a roar than a metal-to-metal sound.

i don't see anything stuck underneath and the breaks are still good.

the noise started after hitting the bottom of the hill quite fast. I've done this before, but not with a load in the backseats (although it's not heavy at all).

It's hard to say with the detail that you've given. I don't really understand how it happened? You were going downhill at a fast rate of speed and then it levels out quickly and the force pushed your car down and you started hearing the noise?

It doesn't sound like the T-Case which is a good thing. This one is a head scratcher. Make sure you keep us updated.

Sounds like the exhaust on the driveshaft. Stock or aftermarket exhaust?

thx for the reply fellas.

My friend figured what the issue was. There was a bigass rock stuck between the backing plate and the rotor. The rock was gauging the rotor causing the nasty sound.

I guess the force of my evo hitting the bottom of the hill threw up some rocks (i live in alberta canada where they sprinkle gravel to make the roads drivable during winter) I'm so glad it was not anything serious!

The good thing about this is now i have a reason to upgrade my stock rotors for some bling ventilated ones!

I was going to say that I once have 5 people in my Evo with the other weights more than what you're carrying and probably doing a lot faster than you and it doesn't do that. Good thing you got it fix without draining your wallet.
