sup...i talked to my dealer about the lancer, heres what he said...it will have 250 hp and cost closer to 30,000....i was pissed when i heard they droped the hp to 250,but he said it was needed because the intercooler was causing the evo to fail crash tests...so i guess its not the 275 like i wished it was...oh well that suked

how would the intercooler cause it to fail crash tests?

 

Does the location of the intercooler meter as far as power goes? Wouldn't the size of the intercooler be more important as far as HP goes?

i think thats what he ment..i think they made it a little smaller,and he said they had to lose some of the hp because of the emission laws..and yeah he said they wont get any lancers in till around summer of 2003...

 

First, noone knows what the ACTUAL horsepower will be yet.

But, who cares if its 250hp? I don't.

Do you know how they lowered the hp? Probably by either lowering the boost or making the exhaust more restrictive. This is solved VERY easily, by a boost controller and a new exhaust. Both of which I plan on doing anyhow.

In fact, I actually hope they DO lower the hp to 250 by the methods I said. That will make my modded Evo THAT much faster than a stock.

to answer the acura drivers question, the intercooler doesn't cause it to fail the crash test it's because it's located so far forward is what makes it fail the tests hence the reason they have to reduce the size and position it somewhere else.

all i noe is that the Lancer Evo VII that is coming 2 the U.S. is going 2 be 23hp more than the WRX. this is because Mitsubishi wants 2 keep the price tag low so it can be in the same price range as its long time rival Subaru, and still have the HP advantage.

 

blah blah...amazes me how no one seems to know about the press release, which states, "MORE THAN 250 RABID HORSES"
