Unhappy bad news on evo seven for us

my friend know all the guys at the mitsu dealer in east providence Rhode Island and they were talking with him about his 02 lancer oz which has been modified quite a bit so they were telling him about the evo 7 and they said the horse is going to decreased dramatically because of the laws something about the intercooler being in the front bumper so they were talking and they said they might take the intercooler and put it in the stock location as the eclipse which means no front mount you heard me no front mount intercooler can anyone say
can you say 210 for horse they say it is going to have the horsepower rating of an eclipse so that sucks for all u guys goin to buy an evo 7
look a 30,000 dollar eclipse.

Well the President of Mitsu USA told me it will have more than 250 horses.

Who do you beleive, a car salesman from RI that just sells Mitsu's or the Prez of the company that builds them?

i seriously doubt that it will be lowerd to 210HP since the current WRX is at 227... and if they did lower it to 210HP they have to be crazy to try and charge 30,000 for it...

LMAO...210HP? Why would they lower it that low when the WRX has 227HP stock? I don't think it will be 250/260 but more like 270; I've been told 290HP earlier but that would be more of a miracle. Besides get a bigger turbo, blow off valve, exhaust and you'll totally be set. I'm planning on sinking 10-20K into this car at UPRD; let's just say it will be over 300

Buying one direct from UK, Japan you'll get more 300hp buying one ehre you'll get around 268-289hp. Damn these US regulations.

tsunami civic,

The dealership probably said that to your friend since he has an Oz. The lancer evo will have more than 210hp even without an intercooler. Besides Mitsubishi already anounced that they will bring more than 250hp like others said. Remember the evo extreme has 340-350hp mainly due to exhaust and computer!

Eclipse engine is so different. Ok, i'd say the engine block is the same and rotate 180 degrees. It's the old gen Evo I-III engine and a really small turbo and valvetrain. That's why it's 210hp.

How can you say a 30,000 eclipse? What about the suspention, activative differentials, Brembo brakes, and much more. Remember horspower is cheap but making it handle cost a lot more. I'll show you my 30,000 eclipse so you can laugh at me.

you guys tellin me you wouldnt buy an EVO 7 if it was under powered? I'd buy one if it was pushin only 200 HP and came only in pink. the fact that mitsu even considered bringing that line over to the states makes me a happy camper. if the car was under powered it would be my pleasure to tune it up to my specifications just as long as the awd is in tact. im sure that if mitsu decides to reduce the hp output they will also reduce the price tag along with it to ease the pain.

It quickly becomes apparent which rumors to give weight to and which to ignore.

just to give some MORE ACCURATE info:

yes the EVO7 will definitely lose the FMIC.... but it will be side mounted and at a smaller size. Yes we can say no FMIC. But hey T.Civic that's better than no intercooler

210hp? LOL I don't think the 4G63 could be that low even without a turbo! It's AT LEAST 250 for sure. Possibly higher (260~265) depending on how low they drop the boost.

Who are THEY? I'm not gonna believe everything THEY said just because they are working at dealers . I hear my news from HQ people who are actually testing the EVO7 as of now.

Ancient Confucius saying: "If you can not tell an Eclipse from an Evo, you must know none."

Even if there were no intercooler, period, it would still have more than 210 hp.

I'm gone for a little while and come back and find the newbies out of control.

Do we really know this for sure?

Can anyone think of any US cars that have/had a FMIC?

i think the "No FMIC" is full of it

The Nissan Skyline GTR series has a FMIC and they are legal here.
The bumpers just need to be strengthened, that's all
