When you're paying the bills and **** they don't give you so much trouble, but when its time for you to collect from them, its the hardest thing in the world.

I hope USAA never does something like that to me.

I'll add liberty mutual to the list to avoid along with Geico.

I wish you the best of luck getting things straightened out. Sucks when companies do that. The worst part is dealing with someone else's insurance when they're at fault and they want to cheap out on you and not repair it to your standards which is the way it came beforehand.

i think it's stupid even if your car is older...i mean u've paid them way more than the cost of a tcase over your lifetime...they should give you a new one no matter what...i mean seriously...i've never had a car wreck and i've been driving for 18 years...so 18 years of payments for nothing...lmao....i mean so if i have a wreck then they aren't gonna fix my car the right way?...sounds rediculous to me

I was thinking that but again if your car was in an accident, do they get parts out of the junkyard to fix it? Used body panels, used airbags, etc etc? Where is the line drawn? To the OP what circumstances caused the damage?

I could maybe see a refurb being used, because who knows what condition the used t-case is? What if it came out of an abused car?

Good luck

Something that is mechanical such as a t-case is where I would draw the line. What if the t-case is bad? Then they will either have to find another used, rebuild it, or get a new one. Then the OP would be without his car even longer. Do it right the first time.

The OP's best bet is to have them pay to have yours rebuilt. I think having Shep or TRE build your t-case will probably come in at around the $1000 that they are wanting to only spend.

IMO though, you give these companies thousands of dollars over the years and when you actually use them they want to cheap out on you and get used parts. I think its rediculous. I had someone rear end my old EVO a few years ago and thier insurance company was trying to score used parts to fix my car. My car was perfectly fine til THIER customer hit me and I deserved to have my car fixed with new OEM parts. Not something from a junkyard.

Okay i talked to my sister on the phone for awhile defending your case. My sister said cause its not an 09 they cannot give you a new transfer case due to you have already put alot of wear and tear on your old one. Thats factors in. No matter what they will find you a warrantied transfer case.

Its warrantied as long as you take it to a liberty mutual preffered shop. She said though if you want to push for a new t-case just explain to the appraiser how important this part is and do whatever you can to make him realize that. If he doesnt help you out then take it to the manager. The only thing new you qualify is bumpers /exterior pieces. My sister also said almost every insurance company has the same exact policy. So make sure you talk to the appraiser not a tech or rep and push for the new t-case if not your used t-case will be guranteed.

Not that i agree with liberty mutal on this but i tried and there is nothing my sister can do cause your out in California.

Good Luck

Brian

Geico won't give you new bumpers, they will try everything they can to just repair it.

I think my TCase is going out too but it's probably still under warranty. I took it to the dealer and they said they can't seem to find any problem with it so they will have to wait until it gets worsen. Hope you get what you want out of your situation.

That's not how the system works, a majority of people don't ever use the money they've paid insurance companies but its the people who wreck into say three other people, injuring them and property. That is where your money goes a majority of the time , other peoples claims.

I was involved in an accident (not my fault) but what I did was I got a garage to do the damage appraisal and finally the garage and my insurance company argued over the estimate but the garage person got me the money needed to get good parts plus I had enough money to buy all new parts. Its really weird that the insurance company acted like this usually they send you a check and stay out of the tech stuff but I guess liberty mutual operates this way.
