Experienced snow drivers
I LOVE driving in the snow. It's amazing to be quite honest, I've never experienced the drivablitly in the snow like the Evo. Even 4x4 trucks, etc. Just make sure you have the right tires for it, ESPECIALLY not the stock Advans or your going to cry. I haven't tried removing the ABS fuse but I may next time I see snow. Like Sikrsix said, your call will try to go straight like crazy. Just take your time, go slow, and get used to it. In no time you will be dominatin around in the snow!
slow and tires is always a key/main factor, but taking off ABS for a noobie i wouldn't recommend. Snow tires are probably the best damn thing u can do, and you'll love driving in the snow after getting snow tires. When you're in a nasty slide, and ABS is failing you, throttle control can definitely help, countersteer and give it a lil gas, and yes stay out of boost like everyone is saying unless you get comfortable drifting. you'll be amazed how well snow tires grip in snow, just dont expect to stop as fast as the grip feels when pulling.
Everything being said is true. It can be scary at first driving in the snow. You don't realize that the power of the car can get to you when you're in the snow a lot faster. Basically just make sure you have GOOD winter tires, take it slow your first bit of time in the snow, get a feel for how the car reacts at different angles at different speeds and in boost and you will be set.
And make sure you see how your braking reacts when in the snow before you start having fun.

Like everyone else said snow tires is a must or some decent all seasons. Just dont try to do it on the stock advans or you will most likely regret it. Most importantly take it slow and leave a great distance between you and the car in front of you. You will be fine.
Remember that the grip advantage of AWD only comes when accelerating- it wont slow you down any faster. If you start sliding and need to hit the brakes dont ever slam the brakes or lock them up, pump them gently instead. MOST IMPORTANTLY make sure you do not use summer tires or stock Advans. Most all season or snow tires will be fine, no need for chains if you have good tires. Also keep a bigger distance form the car in front of you so you have extra room to slow down if the roads are really bad.
Huh...don't remove ABS fuse? ABS is only really useful for the snow...leave it in. When you need to stop in the snow they things do help a lot. Get some all seasons if you can. DON'T drive like a SUV jackass thinking just because you start ok that you'll stop ok. Stopping takes a LOT longer to stop in snow as you're likely to slide. If you're taking a turn, slow the hell down. If you think there's going to be ice, then almost come to a stop because you will likely slide into the other car trying to get out. Black ice is ice that you can't tell is here. If it's been around 30 degrees and snow is still on the ground, you can be sure there's ice hidden somewhere.
Other than that... don't use the brake if you're losing control or taking a corner. You should gently lift off the gas or keep giving it slight gas it order to do the turn successfully. It's the exact opposite of what you want to do. Snow driving isn't that hard but being able to drive well in it does take time. I can control my turns/drifts and almost know where I'm going to end up at and where my front end will be pointing.

just remember to try to keep out of boost...have good all season tires and you should be set...no need for chains...i can climb hills like nothing even using some boost. its fun. very fun!!! and if you find an open lot...tear it up and do some donuts!!! lol...good luck and have a safe trip!

just take it easy, your car can be a great asset, however it can also make you over confident very fast. Just take it easy and be careful. Stopping takes longer, corners taken too fast can lead you right into the ditch, etc. Other than that, have fun!
