Rare color? Limited production?

Sup guys. I was at a Mitsu dealership here in Indiana (Family Mitsubishi - Fishers, IN.) and a salesman there told me Apex Silver was the harder to get/rarer color.

He also told me the CEO of Mitsubishi was fired b/c he was trying to market to the young generation with the 0 down, 0% APR, and something else deal, and then the people who were buying these cars weren't paying.

Since this has happened, he claims that the new CEO is only allowing around 2500 Evo's to be brought over.

I don't know if this was a sales pitch just trying to get me to buy the last silver evo he had on the lot, but it wasn't working.

According to you guys in a post I read, the Blue By You evo is the rare color, and I've heard there are approx. 4500 evo's over here in the states already. Just wanting to make sure this is correct. Thanks guys.

Edit: Oh, by the way, his prices on his Evo's were pretty decent. The silver Evo he had for sale was on Ebay, and he told me that it would be sold yesterday (9-17-03) for whatever price it went for. He told me if I came back before 9:00 PM, he would give me first dibs on it for the price it was going for. Well, it ended up going for $25,000. Others he had on the lot were priced anywhere from $30,000-$33,000. Not too bad.

Complete BS on the color, that was just a sales pitch. Apex silver has been one of the most common colors as far as i've seen.

Although $25k for a brand new Evo would be a very very good price if you could get it, but as that's well under invoice I'd be very suprised...

Wait, did you buy the evo yet? my salesman told me that they just hired a new manager and he wants to get his first deal blah blah and hes gonna do 2,000 cash back and 0% for 5 years and let me drive it off the lot with a deposit. well that was just a hoax to get me to come in. i already knew what i wanted so i didnt need any of this crap, but i ended up getting it for 4.9% and 2,000 cash back... so i dunno maybe they have a lot of silver evos and they want you to take one off their hands. personally i like all the colors so whatever.

Pierre Gagnon, the former CEO of Mitsubishi...."left Mitsubishi to pursue other interests" he was definitely not fired.

the way i see it is like this:

"well you know that the most rare and hard to get color is sliver, and just so happen we have one in our showroom right now."

as for the blue evo, i am not sure about that one either cause around my area i've seen at least 10 blue and 10 sliver in a month......havent seen any black yet. but i have seen all the color so if you ask me, should i say black is the rare color?

Blue definitely isn't the rarest color. I see more blue Evo's than silver Evo's in my area. I think white or yellow are the least common in my area. Out of about 10+ known Evo's I haven't seen a yellow or white one yet.

You could only say that for sure if you know Pierre personally. I've been in the corporate world for a while, and whenever you see "left to pursue other interests," it usually means that someone WAS fired, and this statement is negotiated as part of a severance agreement to protect the valuable reputation of the executive AND the reputation of the publicly held company.

Can't always believe what you read.

While I don't believe he was fired, or even let go for this, got in big trouble with the Don't pay for a year crap. The number of reposessions went up like some crazy *** number with this. People would buy the car, thinking that they can afford it in a year, and then coun't.

lost millions on that one.

But the radio commercials with the guy explaining to people 0 down, 0 interest and 0 payments for 1 year, were funny. I guess that why I am now hearing so many radio spots to come to the repo sales....
