Is your state good for modified rides?

Well, after just reading about someone that got a fix-it ticket in california I thought I should start this thread as maybe everyone doesn't want to live in their current state forever.

So what states are good for modified cars?

No emissions testing

93/94 octane

tinted windows ok

ect...

I will start

Michigan

No emissions testing

we can get 93, 94, E85, 100 steet blaze, 104 racing blue all at the pump

Tinted window is a fix it ticket, they won't pull you over for it most of the time.

10 over on the freeway is normal driving

no inspection what so ever. As long as your car is movable, youre good.
Seriously, its not rare to see a car with no doors, hood or bumper etc.

Sounds pretty good - how's the weather/salted roads, roads in general?

Illinois law is you can't have an aftermarket exhaust louder than your original exhaust - I don't know how strictly this is enforced, nor how possible it is to enforce this law

HAHAHA Exactly why I want to know whats its like in other states, so I can pick a warmer, smoother one.

Weather = Winter - 30F and Snow or 0F and windy
Summer - 75-80F Raining or 90F Humid

Roads = Suck/boring salt in the winter/construction in the summer People dont know how to drive winter or summer.

Lots of race tracks though!

All the Mustangs, Harley's and old school muscle cars have louder exhausts then you. Cops are not going to pull you over for it, I am running 80mm turbo back no cat. I had a cop, that was driving next to me, tell me that it smells like its running a little rich. Are you running cat-less? Race Gas? I said no...he kept going.

I'd say this varies more by area than it does by state.

+1....I was just going to say that. States may have guidelines but each town's police department inforces rules to there own liking....at least in my experience.

This is the thread I started, somehow it wound up in the off-topic section.
Pretty much the same as yours.

South Carolina = No inspection , No emissions...
We have 93 octane, but E85 is slowly coming around, although not close to me yet, supposedly this summer...

Unless they catch you racing, they dont mess with you much.
If it runs, you can use it.

Warm from April - Nov.-Dec.
Relatively mild winter, from Jan-march.
[It'll be 70 here this week, but average is 50-60*] :-)
