Carbon Fiber Hoods
wow..i remember when i was there age i was out riding mini bikes, go carts, my bicycle etc for fun..whats up with these kids now a days?
I bought a VIS hood same yellowing, gel coat fading, and I have a ton of cracks in mine. The longest one goes from the center vent all the way up to the R/S windshield squirter! CF hoods are nice but, they just wont hold up to the heat.
i had a seibon hood for all of about 8 monthes. the quality was **** and within 3 monthes had hair line cracks all around the vent. within another 2 monthes they got bigger and it looked like ****. im back on a stocker now.
You're not going to get a Varis or Robispec hood for $800.
I have a VIS on my Mirage and after 4-5 years it turned yellow and faded. But the last 2 years, where it had faded the most, I had neglected it as far as waxing goes. As long as I had kept it waxed, clean and out of the constant sun, it looked great.

cwest and monstersport cf hoods are of good quality...but be prepared for paying a pretty penny...as with all cf products, you will have to take care of it, else you will end up with yellowing...hazing...etc. Also, parking the car daily under the sun won't help either.
It now comes down to a matter of you get what you pay for. Buy a cf hood for the 800 of lesser quality or throw in some cash for higher quality. I wish someone would throw paint on my car so i can get the whole thing painted.
I was in an accident a few weeks ago and my hood was smashed. Decided to go with a CWII since I couldn't find a Voltex CF hood. I've heard their quality isn't that great, but I'm getting it clear coated, so hopefully it'll last for a bit, but I figure if it starts cracking and/or yellowing that I'll just get it painted. Yeah, it's a bit heavier then the stocker, but the price can't be beat even if I do get it painted; just have to see if I'll like the more aggressive look.

Seibon makes decent hoods but they are hit or miss when it comes time for fiment. But one thing I have noticed about the cracking.
If you wash your car while the hood is hot then you will crack it which then leads to fading/yellowing.
I have had two Seibon's TSII hoods on my car and I have watched this practiaclly taken notes on it.
Now another thing to pay attention is if it rains on your car then the same thing will happen if it's hot. Same thing with melting snow on your hot hood.
