Short in wires somewhere ? Keep getting shocked.

Its been going on for a while now but never really gave it to much thought. I always thought it was from me rubbing my sneakers on the carpet or seat you know. Lately though its gotten to be were its a bad shock. It will like burn every time I get out of the car and shut the door. Its guaranteed every time I get out I experimented to see.

Anyone have any idea's ? Ive been through wiring to check but Im thinking it might be that leak in the driver's side boot ? I checked the boots inside the door jam and they were all fine along with the wires unders the side panels at the drivers side door.

Im going to keep checking just weird though see if anyone has any ideas.

Does it feel like a static shock?

Is anything in the car not working? If you have a short in the wiring, something should not be operating.

Just test if the door has current or voltage (get a basic volt meter at radio shack)...99% it is static electricity...

Only thing not working is the sunroof. I always thought it was static shock but lately its straight up shocking me so it burns.

I just checked all my wiring yesterday because I had to yank out my Innovate WB to send back to them. I took out all the wiring so theres nothing in that area. Under the hood I have no wiring for anything either so if anything its a short somewhere in the stock harness. I just dont know how to go about finding it. Ill have to ask my teachers if I cant figure it out on here.

Its just with meth on the way I dont want any kind of static shock or short somewhere creating any kind of shock. Dont need that. I do have a volt meter set it to something low and check it with that ? Sounds like a good idea.

get some of that static clothes spray and do the seats. See if it goes away. At least you will know if is static or not.

12 volts isn't gonna shock you. It's just static electricity. The only voltage from a car you can feel is from the coil packs . If it wasn't static it would most likely keep shocking you until either you let go, or it burned up.

I thought it was just me. I will drive around for hours just because I don't want to get out of my car and get shocked. I think it is just the material the seat is made out of. Try buying a metal shift knob that way the static will never build up enough to shock you.

Haha... we had a pickup that whenever you turned the key off, the entire truck (frame, everything) charged to 12v... that was interesting. Ended up being a fuse panel problem, weirdest thing ever.

It is probably your tires. Tires are compounded to disapate the static charge collected from driving. Maybe they ran out the day they made your tires.

Be very careful at the gas pump.
