So when I purchased my evo 8 last week I seen it came equipped with a dc sports cat back exhaust but I've been hearing a lot about turbo back exhausts, I mean what's the difference? Is the exhaust I currently have pretty good? I will appreciate any feed back, new to the evo fam so please take it easy on any bashing, thanks!

 

turbo back means full exhaust not just the cat back (down pipe + straight pipe or hfc + cat back =turbo back exhaust)

 

catback = starts from the catalytic converter and down to the exhaust

turboback = starts from the turbo and down to the exhaust

 

turbo back exhaust (tbe)
is just about starting at the turbo. tbe is waaaaaay better than just a catback... it provides better exhaust flow.. so your turbo will spool faster.

bigger diameter piping will hurt your non-boost acceleration though but as soon as you hit boost it was worth the bigger diameter exhaust piping
