Two guys, two mods, and a tune... in the 11's
Congrats on the new personal best...so close but no cigar
...I'd definitely get the cigar ready for tonight
....GO JIM & TOM my prediction is 11.986
Jim you could just install the non-cdi cop and kick the door down in the 11's
I know the goals that you have set and there is obviously enough power with your current mods

Thanks guys, Tom and I are having a blast doing this project. Instead of throwing a bunch of dollars and parts at it, we are getting the most out of what we have to work with, both with driving and the tune. To date we have 33 passes on the car, 29 in the past two months, and still on a 30,000 mile plus stock clutch. This really shows you don't have to go out and buy the trick of the week. Find a good tuner that will work with you, buy an air filter, MBC, and work on your driving. The most important thing is to have fun. 9sec9 will be doing the updates from the track tonight as I'm heading out the door for the track now. Indy

Well I made four passes 12.026, 12.341 missing the 2-3 shift (got greedy), 12.16, and a 12.13. 60 ft's ranged from a 1.63-1.68, the track was fair as plenty of street cars and trucks were driving through the water box. No excuses here, we did our best for this evening and the tune was absolutely perfect, I just need to work on my shift points and put it all together. The car will go 11's as it sits I just need to do my job better. Thanks Tom, I know we tried a couple of things and were going in the right direction we just need to do this on a slick and dot night. Indy
Indy, don't worry. Be happy. You can't make the track better than it is. The track tonight looks like it needed a little work, but some of your shifting was spectacular. On a few of the lift shifts, the boost stayed above 10 psi and 2 byte loads stayed above 90. A few only dropped from 220 to 90 and right back to 200 again. Unbelievable. I made a minor change in timing, but all in all, the tune looks dead on for an 11 second pass. The intake temps showed 98 degrees through all of 1st gear and mostly 90+ through 2,3 with high 80's in 4th. With a DA of 1900 feet, a 12.02 isn't too shabby. 4 1.6x 60's in a row wasn't too bad either. Now, we're consistent with our fastest et's and only 1 mph down with a stiff head wind. Like I said,
don't worry, be happy. Better times are right around the corner. I now predict the car in current form can make an 11.90-11.92 run. Congrats on super consistency and running within 1/100th of your best personal run.

After reviewing the logs and talking with 9sec9 this morning we deterermined the clutch was starting to slip after the first run. The MPH seemed off, but I thought it was track conditions not clutch. Replacing the clutch should net us the 11's were looking for since it robbed us about 2.3 MPH. 37 hard passes and 30,000 miles plus with multiple 12.0's and 12 teen's was pretty darn good out of a stock clutch, and replacing it now with the track tied up with the Goodguy's Hot Rod show next week worked out well. Next Saturday Fathouse and I will do the swap and after breaking it in we will return to the track. Indy

I was following this thread a the beginning. Then when the crap started about being able to do it for 150.00 started I kind of lost interest. (For the record, I didn't see where you said anyone could do it for 150.00. Just that YOU did. So if you were able to barter for or borrow parts, congrats and more power to you!). Did I miss any parts added since then? If not and you are still on stock exhaust with cat then this is phenomenal! If you upgraded the exhaust then it's only awesome! Congrats and I'll be sure to pay attention from now on.
