Thread to the $470 JDM Rear Replacement Crash Bar?
I don't get this.
People, what is the difference between running NO crash beam and an AFTERMARKET one? Either way if you get rear ended insurance will NOT cover damages due to "modified parts" ie. the bumper beam. Now granted you'll probably sustain the same amount of damage, (just about) with the OEM modified beam, but atleast when crunched up, the insurance adjuster can not pinpoint that the OE unit was modified and deny coverage. Back to the question... WHY NOT RUN THE OE UNIT?? I don't get it :shakes head:.

Many do not have a local welder top mod their stockers so running an aftermarket unit is an option for them . Also if you take a good look at the picture of the front crash bar you will notice that the IC is dented - that customer actually ran his car into a road-side poll and placed it about 30feet into the brush . He was able to drive his car home - the crash bar did its job of saving the vital front end parts . Others run the crash bar to save weight .
Do you have proof of someone being denied coverage because of this?
. Thanks for the input anyways.I also realize there will be people that will modify their cars to their liking (some parts due to weight -trust me I own a gutted RS), but it boggles my mind sometimes especially when it comes to insurance work.
To the last poster before me, I am constantly surrounded by people that work in the insurance industry -I think that's sufficient enough "proof" to make the claim I did.

To the Topic Post I think you're referring to this Rear Crash Beam
http://www.afterhoursautomotive.com/...r%20brace.html

It is 400 Dollars and although it is quite pricey.. It's a very nice piece. I have one on my car and not only did I shave off a few pounds but it was much easier to do the JDM rear install.
