Your problem is actually a synchro assembly. There is a TSB on it and you can get it replaced under recall.
What I was meaning about "fast is slow and slow is fast" applies to all shifts in this car, though. When you change gears, you can't do it like in a Mustang - slamming it bac forth as fast as you can. These transmissions are connected with cable linkage. You have to take your time and "finess" the shift.
All you 1-2 shift grind guys can complain all you want about how the car is of inferior build and you should be able to shift as fast as humanly possible and all....That isn't the case. You need to learn how to drive the car properly. I'm not trying to be cocky, but in the end, you're the one grinding and I'm the one who isn't, and we both drive the same car.
Thanks, for the reply. I had heard it could be took care on warrenty . I wasn't aware of the TSB on it. Other than the 5th gear high RPM problem I have no other tranmission or clutch problems at all

purchased the car march 2004. just turned 13000 today. no problems . took this car to half day of autocross school when it had only 1000 which included braking, skidpad, some excercises requiring you to launch the car. been autocrossing the car once a month. no problems at all. still believe it is a great car even after mitsubishi motors flagged or should I say voided my warranty after they found out I am autocrossing the car.
really just depends on the dealership. But I wouldn't tell them you do anything with the car except drive it slow. lol.
I tell them it was the other red evo that was racing or auto xing.

almost 45K and no problems. I really think the clutch problems are a result of not being able to resist the urge to smoke the driver next to you reving their engine off the line.. if you can avoid doing this and hard launches the clutch will be fine. My clutch is still very tight.. feels like new.

on first gear when u let go the clutch too early and the car is about to stall would tat cost a problem because im still not use to the car yet everytime i drive its like that so would this cost any problems?
23,000 miles on the and the rotors are warped. I love this car so much it really doesn't phase me, at least my stock clutch is still alive & kickin'.
Guess I'll see what my local dealer's like with warranties...I'm assuming that should be covered since I didn't do anything to cause the problem...

aw crap didn't read the above thread (plokivos)
so rotors are considered a "wear" item or what?? They really shouldn't be warping at this mileage. My civic lasted 150,000 miles on the same damn rotors. (I know, apples and oranges, but still). Crapola.
