Unhappy has this ever happened to anyone?

Alright so ive been in the process of getting an evo i found a nice one with only 18,000 miles i put a down payment on the car. The car is from a private seller. I am located in PA and the seller is in New york. I was going to go get the car today but she said she lost the lien release. But the car is paid off. When the seller is the second owner and said that the car was paid off when they bought it. The title still says toyota corp. But the car is a clean title and when she purchased the car someone messed up the paperwork or wtvr and thats why it still is under a lien on the title. It really sucks so now the seller has to get a new release, but the lien relase is in the orginal owners name. It all sucks apparently the seller now has to get a lein release for her even though she never had a lein on the car but just because the title still has it on there.?

Don't do it unless you get the lein paperwork cleared up. Leins follow the car, not the owner, so if whoever has the lein on the car decides to take it, they can, regardless of the owner.

I'd demand that down payment back and do what Oki Panoki suggested. That's just too complicated of a situation.

Yeah there's something a little shady about that deal. Where did you find the car? Have you seen it in person yet?

when you pay off a lien you get a new title, so that makes the person your buying it from an idiot cause they bought it without the proper paperwork, this will only make you look even dumber if you go through with it without getting all this crap squared away, for the record i think its very very shady
