92-95 Civic Hatchbacks hit 3k 10 years ago and are still going for that amount right now.

I think it has more to do with people over pricing them upon putting the cars for sale.

Why on earth would I pay $26K for a 20k+ mile Evo? So it's depreciated only 4 grand in almost 4 years? I don't think so, it's just owners dictating the price more so then what the cars really worth.

We have VIII owners jumping on the bandwagon and pricing their cars beyond belief.

You know what really makes me laugh are all these lame people who some how fabricate excuse after excuse as to why Evo's are unacceptable daily drivers. They sit in their garages all day because to them the car is some how an exotic. How are you going to reserve a $30K Japanese Econobox Sedan to garage queen duty?

To those of you who don't drive your cars.
Ok tell that to a integra type r owner or an s4 owner. These cars are not just a regular civic or corolla IMO, And who would pay 30k for an econobox, I drive a sports sedan.

The average consumer doesn't buy an Evo though. They don't go, "Oh thank god I found a car with a wing almost as high as the car roof!" Some people like the IX' more than the X's plain and simple. Something is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it.

This. Add VIII in there too. Some like the CT9A over the new platform (myself included).

That all changed with the release of the X though, it's a much much more mainstream everyday car in regards to the average persons perception. All the IX owners who have 5K miles on their car and think it's some collector item should learn from X owners who drive their cars day in and day out. What so they have cruise control and a more refined interior thus their X's are more suitable DD's?

And I do think there are about 50% of Evo owners who are not extreme enthusiasts as found on this forum. How many are actually accounted for around here of the 5-8K produced per year? I've come across tons of people who don't even know this place exists yet drive Stock Evo's. Just because a car has a large aftermarket/community familiar with modding doesn't mean peoples purchasing decisions are based on that.

Yeah but I have yet to find a normal person who knows what an Evo is. Everytime I tell people what I drive they just stare at me like a deer in headlights. I have to explain it to them. If someone knows what an Evo is, they are normally somewhat knowledgeable of imports or at least plated Grand Tourismo

I bought an Evo since I think they are sweet as well and got super back in the day when I read in SCC that they were coming to the US. I don't plan on modding my car though, at least not for a while since there's a lot of other stuff I should get first and I already went through the 'blow money to make car faster in traffic' phase of my life. (Wish I could track but no money or motivation for a 2nd car again).

That's a good way to put it in terms of swaying young guys away from wasting money on their cars. When you look at it logically, modding a street car makes no sense IMO but it must be done.

My dad put 32000 miles on a 06 Toureg back in 06. He bought it with 600, ended at like 32643..when we sold it.
Only did one oil change at 10k too..
Had it as a work truck..

and, bought it in January.. sold in november.. so 11 months and we put 32k on it..

Its possible.
My sister has had her M3 for like 2 months now and went from 55k to 62k.

not that my evo for sale, but down the road I might offer it for $30K because that is the only price I am willing to part with it. that is why a LHD, clean, road legal 2001 TME that is not modded or tracked is reasonably priced at $30K.

I just call it an AWD turbo sedan capable of 300-500 horses relatively easy and cheap.

I think one of the worst car's would have to be the Viper you can get an 06 in the $40's.

The evo VIII, and IX's value will increase, when the economy goes back up, and as long as the Super Merged Wrecked Thread keeps getting longer. LOL

I do think the X is a better DD, I've owned all three. It's hard to compare because my IX MR is so modded when I get the X to 450 whp I'll let you know what I think, but I still think the X will be a better DD. It is a better family car, has a better Crash safety rating, which the VIII, and IX barely pass. My wife said that we basically had to trade in the VIII for the X because of all the safety stuff, and better DD ability.

As far as the prices, My dealership gave us 19K for our VIII in 2008, they sold it a week later, for, about 24K, it had an IX bumper on it LOL!!

Dec 08 They told me they would give me 22K for the X if I traded it in for the X MR. I was amazed it depreciated so much!

I was told that the VIII, and IX sell better, and faster, The dealerships in our area have a difficult time keeping them on the lot, younger guy's buy them for modding, or just the look of the IX, VIII. Alot of people are just not farmiliar with the X, Alot of people buy them accidentally looking for a family sedan, after one drive, and the feel of the handling, and turbo their hooked!

Second kick in the nuts was the very much improved interior decor and accessories over the slightly dismal 1978 orange colored display I got with my IX. Although I've read it's heavier/slower then Evo VIII's/IX's, I'm a sucker for comfort items (should see my fabulous iPod touch cigarette holster/charger/fm tuner, it's.....horrible to look at).

slower?? its only 50lbs heavier then a reg ix, and i only weigh 150lbs

unless your talking about the x then i understand! lol
