Its slower then the 9 straightline but due to the ayc better around the track given even drivers. Feels heavier then the 9 as well. I thought the weight difference was morei n the 100lb + range.

331 pounds Here is my source. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...test_data.html

Someone accused those who like the ix better than the x of not wanting the evo to evolve. They miss the point we are not happy with the way it has evolved. I waited for the X because I liked the way it looked, and the AYC, but I was disappointing by the early reports that it had lost its go cart feel. Some Evo fans want a car that is all about performance. I don't want any of the money I spend being wasted on features that do not conform with that goal.

My Aunt who is 50 years old was shopping for a new car and she drove the evo x mr. She said "it is a beautiful car, but it doesn't get good enough gas millage." She bought a Mercury Sable instead. No body would have cross shopped a mercury Sable and an Evo ix.

I honestly think the "being faster around the track" has to do with the bigger wheels and tires more than the AYC. 300+ pound weight disadvantage doesn't get compensated for by AYC alone.

EDIT: And the reason both the IX and X feel like Go Carts as people describe has more to do with the quick steering ratio IMO. Neither car is light by any means but you put a quick steering rack on a car and to the average driver it's very deceiving. If you've driven a X before the added heft is definitely noticeable.

I think they mention in the article that the engine had some high RPM sputter or something. Mitsu should have made sure their tester was running well before they gave it to motortrend.

I have a 125 shifter sprint cart, and while the steering ratio is part of it, another big factor is the stiff suspension and lack of body roll. The cart has no suspension and tires so soft they feel like chewed bubble gum when you touch them.

I think the Evo gets cross shopped more than you can imagine. ANYBODY with 30k to spend on a car should at least weigh some other options!

Believe it was an online article. I'll dig through my favourites and see if I can come up with it

Don't think this was it but seemed similar in spirit. I know I read a article that claimed the EVO X was a tad quicker around a track but for now all I have is mitsubishi propaganda:

http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:...&ct=clnk&gl=us

And specifically: "Throw in a few turns, though, and the situation changes. Mitsubishi engineers report that they can lap the Evo X 2 seconds faster around their 2.4-km (1.5-mile) course than a U.S.-spec Evo IX. We believe it. The newfound chassis prowess results in cornering speeds that are simply faster in the Evo X. "

I considered getting a EVO X, but besides price something kept drawing me back to the EVO IX

Well said.

On rare occasions when it's parked in the sun for an hour or two, it still has a faint new car smell.

When you don't dd your favourite car you have a new found appreciation for it everytime you get in it.

I bought my car spanking new, and still have a smile on my face. I dont care if the value drops to 100 dollars. It dont matter since I dont plan on selling.
I rather have a clean car I know the maintenance history on then getting a good deal on an unknown.
hmm, like I rather marry and high maintance virgin than some hooker skank with unknown history, sure she says she is all good but we cant be certain now can we.
