scraping going up driveway

I have a steep driveway ramp and I scrape the crap out of my front end when I go down it, even at an angle. Is there some kind of ramp out there for this? I have to park wt on the street right now and with all the f*cking ricers on my block its hard to find parking with them hogging spaces with their crap buckets. TIA

You would have to redo the driveway by smashing and relaying concrete and making it more mellow. Other then that, no, there isn't a ramp out there unless you build one yourself. Only pain is taking it out and putting it away again. You won't be able to just leave it on the street.

A friend of mine has this problem, he actually won;t lower his evo because of his lip and his driveway. We were just brainstorming this last night. LMK if you find anything that I could forward his way! G/L

This is just a rough idea on what I had in mind.

The first represents relaying concrete. Giving the limited space you have between the road and sidewalk/driveway, you'll just relay the same ramp as before if you make everything even. If you can lift the height of the bottom or even lower the height of the top, you might be able to make it. Of course, they'll be a little curb-like end but knowing some ppl that did concrete laying in their life, concrete is very flexible. You can even out the edges as much as you want without going into the road. You just need the initial/main angle of the driveway.

In order to build this driveway, you will need an adjustable leveler that has angles or some angle measuring tool. It doesn't take too much math as you're just getting the angles. You'll also need something flat but long enough like a piece of cardboard or something. Lay the cardboard under the front tires and lift the other side of the board until it hits the lip of the car. Of course, leave a little room between the lip and cardboard. Measure the angle and this will be your main angle for the ramp. After that, just get a contractor to build it for you and tell him the angle you want.

Another idea of mine would just be plain and simple, make your own ramp. For the top of the ramp, try to find something that can handle the weight of an Evo (3300+lbs). Plywood is cheap and simple but you would also have to build supports under it. You can either start at the top of the driveway ramp or just a little in the middle to get an even more mellow ramp. Drive up and win!

i've always been a fan of the creative use of plywood although the link to griotsgarage seems like a much more elegant solution

It'll help for driveways with gutters lower then the mellow ramps but it won't help much on steepness.

Building your own ramp seems to be the easiest and cheapest solution as I see it. Just have to make sure the ramp will support an Evo.

i hated not being able to pull in my driveway. Evo sat in the lower driveway at my house but having a lowered evo does blow when you have a steep driveway, espiccally if the car has to sit in the street....something i would never do IMO.

I have the same problem. Although, ive found that I can back my car into my driveway without scraping. Its a little more effort, but maybe worth a shot.
