Hey EvoM,
I just bought my IX MR a few weeks ago and it has 24k miles. Recently once in a while it will have a grinding sound when coming to a stop like at the very end it will start grinding. The brakes squeak but I believe that is normal and I looked at the brakes, the pads seem to be okay. Do you guys think it's my brake pads from metal on metal contact? Would that cause it only to grind once in a while?

Do not judge it by looking at it through the wheel. Your inside pads may be worn to nothing, (hung up caliper). Pull the wheel that is giving the noise and inspect that way.

Yes, only when I brake. When it happens I hear a long squeal and then it goes grind grind grind until I stop. I'm usually in neutral when this happens if it makes a difference.
Yeah I'm planning on pulling the wheel of after doing a little more research. Seems maybe the insides wear out faster. Thanks!

If your pads have wear indicators they could be causing the squeak and the grind... this is why you put the pads with the wear indicators on the inside of the caliper, so if the inside is wearing down too fast it will alert you.
You may be able to feal the inner brake pad thickness with a stick or probe of some sorts depending on your wheels. Maybe use a small mechanics mirror also. Might as well get the brake pads ready, they're relatively cheap and most likely your issue.
