but a car will start even with a dead alternator. As long as the battery is charged.

Well maybe if the alternator is completely dead. I know for a fact my car ran with a bad alternator till the battery was drained.

update:

ok, so I finally got it figured out and the car is running again... YAY!!!

So the issues (2) were, one of the coilpacks went bad, and wasnt generating any spark! And the other issue was one of the relay wires to the FP (not the plug) but the other 2 wires, one of them was pulled out a bit further than the other one. Plugged it back in w/ some needle nose pliers and changed the coilpack, and all is well! so far...

Charlie (C-Spec) came to my pad to help me out and got it all squared away. Thanks Charlie!

BOOST LEAK TEST.....if u have a loose coupler or a major air leak no matter how much cranking you do it wont stay with an idle, and no matter how much u rev the throttle as soon as you let off the throttle she dies out...theres how to's on here on how to do one ....uve already ruled out the battery and if it was the alternator the car would die after driving for a while once u shut it off.
good luck
