Scratching Dash and interior Pieces?

Anyone ever notice how easy it is the scratch the plastic interior in this car? I was installing my Gruppe S 3 gauge pod, and my phillips head screw driver just resting in my hand leaning on dash, and put about a 1/4" scratch on my dash right next to ignition. Its not noticable, very faint, but still its a scratch and it annoys me.

Anyone have this problem, and how did you fix it?

Carefully light a lighter next to the said scuff on the dash and quickly rub with your finger.

If done right, it will blend with the rest of the dash.

lol good idea with the lighter. Its not a huge scratch, but im just really picky about seeing scratches. Its no longer than a taint whisker.

Ive had really good results from a heat gun used VERY lightly and from a distance. A hairdryer may work, but Im not sure if it would get hot enough.

my interior use to scratch reeally easy, just got to be careful with how you get in and out of the car, and your actions inside while driving .

my biggest problem was my shoes on the lower part of the door, getting in and out.

+1 for the heat gun. Takes all minor scratches right out.

Yep....heat gun works wonders. Makes the dash and any plastic look new again. Just don't get it too hot.

So you apply heat then rub with finger? Or just apply heat and glaze over the scratch so it blends in?

Simply apply the heat in circular motions. Don't hold the heat in one spot too long or you will create a shiny spot. You will see the heat start to work. Be patient.

Don't touch it with your finger...you could leave perminanat finger prints.

I google search on the topic will yield several how-tos
