VA is the worst when it comes to modified cars. Fairfax is the worst. HKS hi power is actually pretty quiet.

 

i've gotten pulled over in my friend tC with just an HKS axelback for the exhaust being to loud. they wrote some lame excuse on the ticket and we brought up harleys that have straight pipes that are 15x louder and i quote "yeah, so? at least they sound good"

 

Out here in VA that doesn't matter! They don't care if you are muscle, truck or tuner. They will pull you over. More for tuners then anything but cops in VA suck!!

 

dont they usually drop the ticket if you have a picture of the stock exhaust from under neath the car?

 

No they won't drop it they will reduce the fine!

 

va is the worst state ever. I wish it was just turned into a big lake. I was driving through it going to sc last week and I got pulled over and got a ticket and all I was doing was just cruising down the highway. He thought he was soo cool and told me me exhaust was defective and illegal which is funny because its a full stainless steel one. Then about an hour later probably the only time in the whole state I did above 70 I got pulled over, and this loser cop was asking me about my carbon fiber because he never saw a car with it on the roads, and also commented and asked if I had a "hot" cam in my car. After all was said and done I was about to leave and he asked if I was a rally driver or a drifter, I just said I drive my car so he finally let me go. Stupid state costed me over 300 bucks and wasted time for no reason. Why dont they go after the crack heads and people who rob stores or even people street racing not people who just wanna get by. VA FTMFL

 

Yea man VA is the worst like I said. I think all in all I have had about 30 exhaust tickets and pulled over even more times for it. My buddy said he hates your quote in your sig because he said he likes his honda and he said you wouldn't get pulled over for your exhaust in a honda and he doesn't have inspection done, registration or anything for about a year past!!

 

I own the Tanabe Medalion...93 db passes everywhere.. do yourself a favor buy a quiet exhaust and put the cat back on or roll with a HF cat. I know, I know, we all want loud to impress ourself, our friends and those we don't even know.. Well some folks out there dont give a sh** about your noise and consider it just that---same as you may not like classical music, jazz, rapp, funk, classic rock, ABBA etc what ever annoys you-- Cops aren't profiling, you are giving them a reason. Dont want the problem, dont be the problem. My car is modded, I have been building imports since the 80's and have had my share of loud cars, with the Evo--never pulled over for exhaust and yes the neighbors can here it in their homes and I am in Tx!

 

I got 2 tickets in VA one aftert the other in 30 minutes......I hate VA and if I can avoid it like the plague I will. When I'm going to Toronto the closet I will go is W. VA. Thats it. I call it the great Communist State of Virginia.

 

what the eff? one ticket after the other in 30 mins. thats insane. did you have a silencer on when they ticket-ed you?

 

Guys. Law is the law. If having an exhaust is illegal in your state then its illegal. Sorry.
