Mits Service: What type of clowns do they higher?

Now... I am not attacking techs, and I'm not attacking Mits techs, but seriously this mishap is just inexcusable...

Or maybe because I've been wrenching on cars since I was 12yrs young I have higher standards... you decide.

Probably about 2 months ago I got my FR calipers replaced under warranty. I take my vehicle to Ricart Mits here in OH, because they have the Service Diamond Chapter of Excellence Award from Corp Mits..... gave me some higher confidence that I would be taken care of.

Of course when I took my car in for the caliper paint peeling issues (and some others), the tech's opinion was I dripped brake fluid from the bleed nipple which caused the peeling....Now I don't blame his judgment, its completely logical, although with 34K miles the brakes have never been serviced (I've owned since 11k)....so the corp service dude issued their replacement under warranty.

So I brought the vehicle in, they were ONLY changing my FR calipers....
immediately after receiving my car I check for door dings, scratches etc (because I've been screwed in the past) no problem drove the car home. Immediately getting home I realized I should of checked under the bleed nipple boots.....because I now find that there is brake fluid all over my calipers around the bleed nipples
JESUS, are they seriously this sloppy
They are replacing $3000 worth of calipers, and which the service manual even states to NOT get brake fluid on the paint... and to reiterate, it was the same tech's opinion that fluid was dripped from the nipple that caused the peeling in the first place............

Whatever, that's not even what I am upset about, I guess I shouldn't expect them to actualy clean the calipers.....
BUT....today (10 mins ago) is the first time I opened my hood from when they serviced it, I have only driven ~400miles since then (yeah I got another car, my evo is my baby).
and I found that I HAVE NO BRAKE RESEVOIR CAP!!! WTF!.
Now maybe because I'm a brake engineer I have higher standards, but seriously, you take the cap off, you fill the res., and you put it back. It doesn't seem that difficult to me. They are not doing a ton of work on my car, this type of crap should NOT be over looked.

I am just extremely dissapointed. The service shop is closed now, so I have to wait until monday to speak with the manager

why not take it back and have them fix it

also call mistu and have a rep meet you there to document the brake fluid on the caliper incase it starts peeling again

Ricart strikes again. When I was still in Ohio they replaced the battery that was dead on my 5 day old Mustang. They placed the old one on the passenger side floor.......on its side. Needless to say.....no more carpet. On top of that they said I must have gone around a corner too fast and knocked it on it's side. Weird thing was.......the car never left the service facility when I noticed it.

I then realized the curling iron story about Mr' Ricart was justified....lol!!!

You gonna hate on the guy for messing up on his spelling ? This forum is not to sit there and nic pic at home boys posts. Forums are here to help one another and not put one down.

On a positive note, sorry man for this ish happing to your ride. Sometimes we don't always have trust for our local dealerships, but they tend to place negitive image for themselves. Keep your head up man and get your knowledge on point to help out us with all of our brake questions yeyea!!!!

That sucks man, but now there going to have to bleed your whole system. Since the cap was left off moisture has contaminated your brake fluid and could cause all sorts of problems...but im sure you already knew that being a brake engineer and all...

Basically brings the boiling point closer to the saturated wet point prematuraly. The brake system isn't 'sealed' in the first place, the cap has a vent hole or the fluid would never leave the resevoir and cause a vacuum.
But of course more importantly it helps to keep the crud out, the crud that is smaller than the screen.

We'll see what happens after I speak with the service manager, I'm sure I won't be surprised when he/she points the finger back at me

mate i gotta agree with you.

mitsu techs and other techs are awesome when you can find ones that care but stuff like this,.....theres just no explanations for this and no reasons to justify how it happened.

hopefully you get a good outcome, maybe a complementary service next time on them but honestly, get it in writing that they screwed up.

6 months or 1 year down the track, if your clear coat comes off, at least you'll have something in writing that they f'd it up first..
