Door for gas tank broken??
Door for gas tank broken??
I just went to the gas station to pump some gas and ran into a problem. The lid/door wont open, I pressed the lid release thing a bunch of times and it won't open and now I can't pump any gas. The lid is stuck closed. Mitsu closed down in my area and the nearest dealer is an hour away. Any idea whats wrong with the door? Can anyone tell my what parts I need so I can oder them and fix the lid?
thanks
thanks
It is most likely the door spring. It is a piece of metal than helps the open when you pull the fuel door relice. I dont know the part number off hand you would need to go to the dealer for that but in the mean time all you need to do is use a flat headed screw driver and when you are holding the door relice buttion use the screw driver and pry it open just try to no scratch your car.
I had this problem in my accord and it would randamly do it, I would some times take a key and try to pull the door a little and some times that would work but mostly I just kept lifting the lever up and down alot of times!! there were times I thought I wasn't going to be able to get gas!! VERY FUSTRATING

From what I have read the clip that popped off of mine goes on the hinge someplace... going to check in a little at lunch but does anyone have a pic or could someone take a pic of thiers actually installed and in proper working order please?
Thanks!
Thanks!
This happened to me again for the 4th time, it turns out it's the cheap little plastic clip. I ended up getting a half dozen of these clips from the dealership and keep them in my trunk just in case it breaks again, which I'm sure it will since it has happened four times already.
