I had this happen to me a few times now. I just bought a few extra and keep them in the glove box. Easy to replace while filling up gas.

When this happened to me, I put some silicone in and around the clip so it stays on there forever.. happened to me twice before, but never again since I did that.

This sucks, same thing happen to me about a week ago, used my pocket knife and it popped right open. It was quite aggravating when your hitting the release over and over and it just won't open

So, if i don't have that plastic clip, it's definitively my problem too ... ? Seems like no one have problem with the cable so i hope it is the case for me too ...

If you don't have that clip then it is definitely your problem. Its a pretty common thing. I actually have one laying around if your interested you could pm me.

Thanks, I ordered one last week and receive it today ($2.50). Thanks to everyone here, the problem is solve with that clip. Took me 10 seconds, and everything is now fine.
