Why US so boooring????
Why US so boooring????
After spending most of my life in Europe, where they actually test cars, how come the "Greatest Nation on the Planet" give's road tests that actually bore, tell how fast in a straight line, and glofify Mustangs. What's up here. Taste is an option, the ability to drive is a dream, an only a monkey cares how fast your motor will do a q/r mile. Save yourselves America. It's no wonder they never sold the evo here. Nothing against lancers here, but anyone who thinks an OZ rally is a sports car, is either a) high, or b) spending too much of their parents money for graduation on ****e....................
It's no wonder their is no US driver in f1 or world rally.Sorry, but the cold truth hurts..............

While there's some truth in what you say, you shouldnt log in here to post insulting messages to US or other citizens!
Measuring a car's time on a quarter mile with standing start is a good way of measuring one of the multiple performance criteria of a car. In France, we measure quarter miles, kilometer with standing start, 80 - 150 kmh in the last gear (elasticity), in Germany they measure lateral g as well as 0 - 200 kmh and braking distances from 62 mph (100 kmh) to 0.
I dont know how US magazines test a car, but you cant just call people who want to know quarter mile performance "monkeys".

You are so funny
Why bother signing up for a board and then telling everyone we are fools to spend money and enjoy the cars we paid for?
If you don't like what we are trying to do here then don't be a part of it.

A car is what you make of it.
Is a car bought and paid for by your parents any less of a car than one you buy yourself or are you just upset your parents wouldn't buy you one?
I am paying (future tense) for my car with 100% of my own money, but if my parents had bought it for me I doubt I'd be any less happy to own it.
The US's car market is limited because of two major things in my eyes 1. Demand. Americans in general love big "safe" cars and V8's. 2. Traffic and highway safety regulations. I think those two reasons explain why most cars we see in europe and asia are not in the US.
If you're still around, canny...would you mind volunteering what kind of car you drive? And who paid for it? (Since you seem to think that matters)

It's because 90% of U.S. roads are straight and large. So driving cars like Renault Clio's and Evo's don't make any sense. You'll be hitting 5000 rpm and be going nowhere fast. Just as much as a Crown Victoria has no place in the tight and twisty roads of Wales or Corsica, a Peugeot 106 has no place here. So by and large most mag's test cars by the way we drive. Of course most of us on this board hunt down that twisty piece of tarmac and savor every turn before it straghtens out. The rest of this country drives straight and our greatest race car drivers turn left only, except for a few occasions (watkins glen)

) than that should be my right! Forget big ol' displacement V8's safety and gimme a V6 Clio Sport, or a turbocharged 4 banger (Evo, STi) or a corner carver like the Elise! Hooray for small cars...albeit sport sedans (R33 4 door, STi, Evo, heck even a Legacy Blitz with that funky twin spoiler) have a place in my heart due to the "exciting practicality" (my own buzzword) they offer.

But seriously:
I am an American. I think we criticize ourselves so much, the rest of the world is having trouble keeping up. Small people criticize those at the top...but usually stay watching, and criticizing. Usually that hostility originates from jealousy and personal doubt. I suggest you don't worry so much about us and get a little self-esteem. Considering we are the first country in the world to have so much power and not weild it to take everyone else's countries...considering we do not seek to expand our borders but rather to improve what is within them...considering we have done more than any other country to help other countries (What great supports is Canada giving to not-so-fortunate countries again? Is the Canadian Prime Minister heading over to Israel soon, or Pakistan? Or does the threat of nuclear weapons being deployed not interest you so much as how the European countries have the best F1 drivers?
Sure I like to talk cars...and I think the Evo is going to be great. But If you are going to start bashing the USA, move back to Europe. Why aren't you living THERE since you seem to have ***** envy of them also?
Oh, that's right...I forgot...you ran away.
ps--I am completely jumping to an assumption that you are Canadian...it's certainly reasonable that "Cannyboy" was a synonym for assy boy...which of course brings us back to the first issue.

You know...the aussie said it best..."***-monkey". Apparently you're breeding together. I'm in no mood to argue politics with yet another human who has decided that THEY and ONLY THEY have the "clear and true perspective on..." politics?religion?etc?etc?etc?
Our media is a bunch of BS--no argument there. But certainly YOU have the TRUE story. Forget this crap.
I'm not trying to be unkind. That is what I aim to achieve in life and always fall a bit short. I have no ill-feelings toward Canada...but if you believe that the Canadian government is filled to the brim with altruistic, idealists, uninterested in money or oil, and that Canada has been taking the forefront leading role in promoting world peace...you, yourself have been deluded by someone. This is a car forum. I'm here to learn...not about politics (I've learned all I need to know for this lifetime about the motives and delusions of people)..but about cars, etc.
No more politics and country bashing. I mean to say: "Typical___ statement" ...filling in the blank with ANY country or group of people...is simply intended to insult and demonstrates a lack of tolerance, let alone a gross lack of understanding of the diversity of people EVERYWHERE.
So forgive my insulting remarks, please, and accept my condolences that you found yourself so disturbed. No more politics for me...I have enough trouble keeping my own side of the street clean.
