Cabin Air Filter Surprise

So I've been having this problem with a really bad smell coming out of my vents. It would start to smell after turning on the A/C, just turning on the fans normally, or having outside air flow freely through. Air fresheners didn't do the job so I decided to take out my cabin air filter for a quick look-see. Turns out it was ridden with tissues and... 5 dead baby rat things, the size of one would fit your palm. I don't have any pictures because I immediately bagged them and gave them a quick burial. I have absolutely no idea how they got there, they were all beef-jerkified.

Anyone one else have any weird things happen?

that is digusting, is your car parked for long periods of time i.e. for weeks or even months? mine is, actually I am going to check that filter RIGHT NOW!
Oh and btw, drop some rat poison around where you park because there's obviosly rats around.

Reminds me of the time I got a bird stuck in the front undertray of my daily driver.

I only noticed it from the dried leg dangling off and obviously the smell.

I put some gloves on and a surgical mask to cover up the smell, and yanked it out.

Let's just say the bird came out in two pieces and it was accompanied by a decent amount of maggots .

Mark sure you get some rubbing alcohol to sanitize the area around the cabin filter, and I suggest getting this too; it works wonders.........

I'm paranoid now, my car has been smelling a little musty lately. I'll check out the air filter tomorrow, hopefully no rat-things...

I have a cabin filter on my 05 VIII also, gotta change that thing out soon. That's a nasty problem with rats. Thankfully my area is pretty free of rodents...

that's pretty gross. Those animals are always looking for a nice place to snug in to. Just sucks it happen to be in your Evo. I've seen this issue on an Rsx. Then another issue with a snake in the engine bay all ripped apart from chillin in the accessory belt area. lol
