Hmmm...the fact that there is some resistance shouldn't affect my ability to turn on my heat because I can still turn it there. All i get is cool air.

 

I'll get it checked out tomorrow, just came back from a party and it was cold as FUDGE on the way back home. Chattering teeth the whole way! lol

 

Is your temperature gauge registering the correct temp when it warms up? If not it sounds like as others have said your thermostat has failed.

If you are showing a good running temp then you could have the problem with the gears. Check the above to start with.

 

crap!!! its cold today in FL and i turned on the heat, and the damn knob wont turn (really hard to turn) and when i finally got it turned, heat wont come on. wth!!! temparature gauge reads fine though. i wont what it is. i have an 03

 

Gonna have to get the thermostat checked out man. Night time came and that lukewarm heat told into ice cold again.

Just a thought....pop your hood after a drive and check to see if the radiator lines are pressurized. They should be to a point. If they're not then you have a leak somewhere in the system. If they are and you're still not getting heat then it makes me wonder if you have air bubbles trapped in your coolant system or your thermostat is stuck open. If it were stuck closed then the engine would overheat so I doubt that's the problem. Like everyone else said...you definitely will have to flush the coolant system one way or another. I'd just plan on putting a new OEM thermostat in if I were you just to be safe.

 

^ what he said. had similar prob on my wifes volvo and got the trapped air out of the line and heats back. its simple and doesnt cost anything to do. so do that first

 

dude you have a leak and it isnt circulating properly either block off those hoses or get it fixed before you overheat the car due to insufficient coolant

Sixth Vang and Reevo, do yourselves a quick favor and physically look at the blend door control cable and lever. The blend door lever is located on the driver's side of the heater box. You can see it if you look under the dash towards the radio area. You may need to remove the small kick panel from the center console to get a good look. If you still have the lower cubby in the center of the dash, remove the screws that hold it in place and pull it out. You need to watch/feel for the cable moving and the blend door lever moving while you turn the blend knob (cold/hot knob). If you do not see the blend door lever moving while turning this knob, you'll most likely need the blend door repair kit.

 

sounds like a thermostat, did it on a few of my friends cars when the heat didnt work.

 

i have the same problem but mine occured after i cut the wires from the factory radio and installed a after maket one. i know i fried some of the fuses, but could that have anything to do with it

 

It is your cable that actuates your air blend door NOT your heater core, This is easy to change and I am 99.9% sure this is the problem as people have mentioned a few times in this thread there is a tsb on this subject.
