I think it'd cost more to sell mine, buy a white one, and then mod it the way my black one is..

I doubt that. Paint it wrong, all exterior like you said, and it will be worth nothing when you get through. Painting just the exterior would be around 5K I suppose. I refuse to do those kind of jobs b/c that's just not the way to paint a car.

You don't want to know since you're trying to find the cheap way out.

Probably close to $10K for taking it completely apart, like in that thread, and doing it right.

Yeah, I mean how much labor would it take to completely strip an engine bay. Then everything, I mean EVERY nook and cranny has to be sanded. All lights, decals, bumpers, doors, fenders, hood, trunk, windows, moldings have to be taken off and all the crevices and both sides sanded. Then spot prime, sealer, base, clear. Base/clear would cost hundreds just for materials.

Then all the labor of putting everything back together. All this is if you want the job done RIGHT. It can be done other ways, but this is the ONLY correct way to do a color change. You shouldn't be able to see traces of the previous color anywhere.

You may be able to get it done for around $7500.

Piecing one together and painting some of it runs into the danger of it not matching. White and black are the easiest colors to match, but there still could be some differences especially between the parts you paint and the parts you buy.

I have a red evo, and.. red is the last color I'd ever want lol. I was going to repaint it myself, but everyone says wrap it (on this thread). What do you mean by a wrap?

wrapping is like using a vinyl wrap to cover the car, it looks really nice, but not what i'm looking for.. with the current market i'll probably be able to sell my evo for like 25k (about 15g in it, 380whp) and then buy a ww ix for like 22g.. which leaves me with 3 grand to do all the work i did on my evo all over again.. i'd rather try to pay someone 8-10g to paint the entire car for me.. unless i change the car back to stock which probably won't even be worth the money.. plus i have **** like orbital double din that i just dont want to deal with.

if anything it would be nice to find a ix mr so i could have 6spd and aluminum roof but again i don't think it'll be worth it
