I put mine in my garage at night.
Really though...I don't take any extra steps to keep my car safe anywhere. If a theif wants your car, they'll get it some way or another.
People went great lenghts to protect their ITR's when I had mine. Some were just rediculous. In the almost 4 years of owning my ITR I never had anyone bother it or break in it. I never had a alarm on it and it was parked outside either at my parents house or my g/f's apartment all the time. The windows weren't tinted and I had the stock stereo in it as well. I didn't give them a reason to break into the car.
Same with my Evo. I will not put a alarm and I won't change the stereo either. I might tint the windows, but it will be 35% or lighter. IMO if the tint is too dark people will think your hiding something. Things might change later down the road once I start putting gauges, turbo timer, and EBC in it.
I guess I just look at it as just a car that can be replaced if something happens to it.

the garage is not a problem , but i how about went you go out , believe me sometimes you never know . bad experience , with the ITR peeps will take it just for parts alone and strip the heck out of it ..
So the GPS is a good step , how does it compare to Teli track which just seems to be a different company .
I wonder if theres is going to be any problems with the Evo(theft wise) , i dont think things are much interchangeble like Honda or Acura. An the price tag also attracks different people too.

I am curious to know whether there will even be a market for stolen EVO parts. For one thing they only brought in like ~6500. Most people do not even know what an EVO is so to tell you the truth I doubt you'll have many problems with people stealing your car for parts. The only problem I could forsee would be someone seeing the big wing and intercooler and thinking it was a body kit honda or something and steal it for that reason. The only other thing I could see is if someone does know the potential of your car and takes it for a joy ride.

true , but i tell you want thing the car does turn a lot of heads lol .
Hopefully they wont be a market for it . An im glad that they have a 30k price tag otherwise i would become another Honda or Acura

garages are just as easy to break into sometimes.. especially if it's a stand-alone.
anyone know about these paging systems that come with car alarms? i've been trying to learn some brands, things to look for, etc... but no one seems to know.

Well garages aren't all that safe either, but what can you do? I remember reading a guys garage was broken into while he was home and his ITR was stolen. If you don't have a garage and have to park it in the driveway, you could always makes sure there is a car always parked behind you so it can't be towed away. That is what I did when I lived at home. There was another post about a guys ITR being caught on fire because the theives couldn't get to it because it was blocked in. The fire ended up spreading to the poor guys house as well.
I agree though. I don't think there will be a problem with Evo being stolen for parts. What will any parts fit?
I'm not sure if the brakes would fit a 1G or a 2G, but I really do't see anything else usable for a DSM.

Damn, you guys are mad, wicked, sick, crazy, gun slingin fools. I've got an idea, put an EvoM.net sticker in your window. Now that's security. No thief in their right mind, or their left mind for that matter will mess with an army!!!!
I'd say since the car has an immobilizer, you're not at such a big risk of someone driving off with the evo, so forget the GPS. You're more at risk of people stripping parts off your car while it's sitting there, or breaking into it and jacking the stereo, and god forbid seats, etc. I'd recommend a good 2-way alarm, and jack up the sensitivity. I have the hornet 554T and i love it. It even works from my building's underground garage all the way to my 4th floor apt. in most cases where you're out, you'll prob be out of range, but if you have car parked in driveway, or in an open apartment lot, I'd say it's a must. before i moved to an apartment with a garage, I got notified by my alarm twice... once it was kids throwing rocks through my back window (cought some of them, but to no avail), the other time I got to my car just in time to scare off some kids running off who were checking for an alarm by whackign the car.
but by farm, the best security is a garage, and people not knowing what the car is (when it 1st came out it was no prob, now that the cars getting more publicity, people know its not a riced out lancer)

how does that work ???if you can explain that . Well im glad and hope its stays that way not a market for the EVo .
Yeah a 2- way alarm will be a must , I like the way the Evo is made and as far as stereos goes is not a worry since i dont plan to change it ..Stock system is more then enought for me and sounds is something that doesnt interest me - so stock is more then enough..
Has anyone experience with the GPS before ?
