Im kind of Stuck with this CEL. Need Help
try to buy one of the obd2 checker...it is cheap like 40-50 bucks, and see if it works, it is OBD2- how they cant look it up? so how you going to pass emmision test?
it is hard to tell without a scanner, i dont think it is o2 sensor.... car has not too many miles on it, maybe BOV? since it is VTA?
without a code is pointless.

Lazy 02 sensor signal. The 02 sensor will start switching slower. A normal 02 sensor switches rapidly. When the sensor switches slower than parameters then the check engine light comes on. The sensor can work for a good amount of time and turn lazy. This is when your check engine light comes on. Then the sensor could turn back to switching fine. Making the engine light go out after some distance.

and Autozone people cant check it out cause they arent smart enough to actually use those tools. they just know how to hook it up and let the computer do the work and when the computer doesnt work, they tell you they cant read it. dumb.
turns out to be PO170 code. "Fuel Trim Malfunction (bank 1)"
did a search on here and came up with nothing. Turns out not many people with Evos have this problem. Dont know if its the O2 sensor or the BOV or what.

Google is a good tool
"The code P0170 refers to a problem with the computer control of the air fuel mixture. This is called Fuel Trim. Code P0170 means that the Fuel Trim has reached its limit for compensating for a RICH Fuel Mixture. There are several reasons for a rich fuel mixture problem.
I think that the best way to determine the cause of a rich fuel trim is to use a data streaming scan tool. Ihe first thing I look at is the grams/per second that the Mass Air Flow Sensor is reporting. I also look at the barometric pressure and compare it to the altitude of the location of where I currently am. If the pressure is off ( the baro pressure sensor is part of the Mass Air Flow Sensor ) then the whole fuel fuel reference map is way off either too rich or too lean depending on the error. Fuel pressure should also be checked to make sure that it is not too high or that the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator has not fallen off or become split. Take vacuum hose off and also try to start the engine. Fuel should not squirt out the vacuum hose. Good Luck!"
