yup, i usually go to the track with a bunch of WRX's and there are only 1-2 that are faster than my Evo and these guys have some serious stuff on their car (AP 6 pot brakes, anti-lag, FMIC, 1.5bar boost, etc.).
agree with you that some MMC products have reliability issues, but then again who doesn't?

luminari,
actually i have a TME, ground clearance is not too bad because the evo has 17in rims vs. the 16in for the WRX. No, I have not had major problems with my car, except that I warped the brake discs about 6-8 weeks ago.
an alternative to an evo is to get a WRX and mod it. however, I understand that the new WRX is harder to mod than the old one and heavier too. Either way, the more money you have, the faster your car will go

by that logic, why do the majority of automatic cars have a sport setting? Winter Setting.....why do some high performance cars ie: BMW M5 and M3 have sport settings that change damper characteristics and throttle response.......
think before you speak
The test.
I took the SCC article comparing their WRX project versus a VII
merely as entertainment. I know it isn't an end all test, but I've
also read European magazines comparing the STI to a VII and the Evo
still comes out on top. I'll be glad to find them, but I'm not much
of a mag racer either. Even if the VII cost more and didn't quite
perform as well I'd still want it, because I think it looks better and
I know the potential of the 4G63 (or have faith in Mitsubishi to produce
something just as powerful if the VIII has something else) To start
trying to throw dirt by downing Mitsu because of the recall scandal is a poor tactic and doesn't make up for the fact that they have produced
a superior car.
