For all the So. Cal. peeps, wanting a EVO8
Hey all, i hate starting rumors, but i got a solution, i recently went to hunnington beach, the mitsu dealer there was a great help, he told me yes the us is getting the evo8, it will be above $30k, but here is my point this gentleman i talked to said that his dealership is one of the largest in So. Cal. and he is getting close to 40 evo8's while the rest will be lucky to get 3 or 4
if you want more info call him

hey man, this was suppose to be our little secret between us and maybe some SCLC members!!!
Now there goes my chances of being able to buy one without a down and getting a test drive before I make a final decision
..i hate deposits on something I haven't driven yet

I'd be willing to say that if Mitsu is spending a boat load of money on chaning the car in design, tech, and other things to make it comply with US standards, that there will be more than enough to go around for people. So you dont get one the day they come of the trucks, big deal. I would almost be willing to bet my bottom dollar on it that it will not be a low production batch, mitsu will probably produce quite a few of these to meet initial demand, and then supply the rest over the following years to satisfy all of the rest of the people who weren't able to get one the first year of production. Just my best guess and i feel this is a pretty logical point. CYA!

One more thing!
Oh yeah, i almost forgot one more thing....in reponse to below:

- Dealers/Salesman will do/say ANYTHING to get your business. He could be saying that to better his dealer and also to make you think that you would only be able to get one from his dealer since acording to him there will be such a limited number avaiable. I might have to wave the BS flag on that. That's it! L8R

In '95,
sold 10430 3000GTs which I believe was near the peak. I can't find any older sales data. The '91 model year may have been better. I would estimate that about 1/3 of 3000GTs were of the VR4 flavor - so maybe 3000-4000 total that year. Sales dropped off quickly after '95, to 8300, 6100, 4200, and 3400 in '96, '97, '98, and '99 respectively. In '95,
sold 53000 eclipses and another 20000 talon/lasers. I'd estimate about 20% were of the turbo/AWD variety (GSX). In '99,
sold about 53000 eclipse coupes and another 8000 spyders. If my estimate is anywhere close, you're looking at maybe 10-12k GSXs/year.
Look at the wrx
Initially 12k to be made, over 20k '02s and still selling like crazy
If the demand is high mitsu will pump them out as fast as they can make them
What a company says they will make is bs, they use that low number to get suckers into buying them for $10k over msrp

I disagree. Mitsubishi doesn't make a dime of what the dealer charges over msrp. Mitsubishi is making the Evo their "flagship" car which means it is there to establish an image and large sales aren't important. Usually flagship cars are fairly limited in production....more profit is made off all the other "non-flagship" cars they sell.

I hope it is limited, however you may be right. According to the popular machanics post there are to 17,000. I don't know if this is just US or not. It sounds reasonable though.
