Wipers stuck on!?

Okay, so the last couple of days have been hell here in Chicago. Between the streets being sheets of ice and the temps numbing, I thought little more could go wrong.....

I go out to the lot last night to pull my car into the service garage (work at Toyota dealer) and when I got the car in the shop, turned the wiper stalk to off and well to put it simple it would not turn OFF!

Wondering if anyone has had this problem before, I would rather have dental work done with no gas then try to get Mitsu to warranty it. Anyone?

99% man that is your issue. If you know what your doing it and do it yourself it'll cost you next to nothing. Just for some shrink tubing and a tube of silicone

If you have a shop do it your going to be paying between 2-4 hours labor.

Well I removed the kick panel and looked at the wiring for a while. Nothing looks out of place but when I moved the one harness it had a spark somewhere and is making an interference noise??
I am a little worried since a short can lead anywhere and could cause a fire, so I am taking it to the dealer monday to see if they will do anything. The only two left within my area are Bill Jacobs Joliet and South Holland. Anyone know a good dealer to go to in Chicago Suburbs? I am stock....

Wow yea get that fixed quick. Leave your battery unplugged over night until you do. I don't think you need your car/house/neighbors house burning down. Your stock, nice! Take it in quick.

You need to take the connectors apart and you'll see all the corrosion on the pins. Its sparking cause there is power at those pins and their intermittently making connection to one other. Not Good

If you are going to take it to Mitsu for a warranty claim. Make sure you explain to them where the issue is. If not I can only imagine what kind of stupid things they'll tell you is wrong with the car.

IMO I'd just bring it to a reputable shop (Plenty in your area) and show them where the problem is and let them fix it by hard soldering all wires together and sealing the grommit up properly

True, however I am trying to save some money right now for other investments so I think I am going to try to get it warrantied. I will point out exactly what is the problem so the techs hopefully cant screw it up!

I did look at it tonight and mine is so bad that I can't even get the connectors to come apart, TONS of the white corrosion powder everywhere. Its always small problems that make themselves a big deal!
